The original Veyron / Chiron is built in a way that it exists in an equilibrium of downforce vs lift when its doing a high speed run. However these are German engineers. They wont simply throw a claim out if the car cant actually deliver. These arent, youknow.... American wild claims.

Same, the Chiron Supersport reduced drag and added a long-tail configuration. The Bolide has a lot of drag due to the aero package. I'd be surprised if it goes beyond 260 mph.

It would neve achieve that at indy. An IndyCar with a similar power to weight ratio, racing tyres and aero gets to about 250 max in the straights and that's after coming off turns 2 and 4 at around 225. There is no way this thing is taking the turns at Indy at anywhere near 225.

Bugatti claims the bolide can hit 311mph (or 500kph)... but is that really possible? Well, kinda and kinda not... remember, the bolide defenetly has the power to propell the car beyond 300mph... but in actuality the car woulnt be able to hit that speed... (sorry for all you bugatti fans)... and here is my argument why it woulnt hit 300mph... The car has its aerodynamics tuned for a track circuit... and this is the main reason... that wing (spoiler) at the back will generate a lot of downforce for the car (wich is great to keep the car glued to the asphalt when taking those corners), but it also generates a lot of drag (this will slow the car and thus thr car wont be able to reach 300mph). I mean, just take a look at what the other cars that went beyond 300mph did: bugatti redesigned a totally new version of the chiron (aka the chiron 300+) specificly designed to go beyond 300mph... koenisegg did the same with the jesko... the jesko attack is the car with the wing and thus that car is more track oriented, while the jesko absolut (with no air diffusers on the side and the wing removed) is tuned for those high speeds... A lot of car manufacturers did exactly the same... if they want a high speed car, they will usually desing a car tuned exactly for that... otherwise they will desing a track oriented car with big wings on the back and high aerodynamics... When looking at the bugatti bolide, its clearly a car designed for the track... and not for those world breaking speeds... Tires also play a huge roll in the ability of a car to reach those top speeds... but in this case the bolide is fitted with some of the best tires in the world... Speed world record attempt require 2 runs in oposite direction of each other... with the result beeing the average top speed between the 2 runs... Location and weather also plays a massive roll as well... this is why it takes so long for car manufacturers to officially set a top speed run for their cars... also puplicity, sponsorship and puplic demand is also a contributing factor... this is why we are yet to see the top speed of a koenisseg jesko absolut, or hennesey venom F5... I mean, just check out the SSC Tuatarra attempt... the first one was a complete fiasco and wich ruined the car's reputation... they officially set the record on their second attempt a year later... but other manufacturers are not gonna try untill they are 100% sure their car can hit those top speeds...
