It's not always power, it could be aerodynamics or the length of the wheelbase. Even a 10hp scooter will wheelie at those speeds if you add the "right" type of aerodynamics. Now the wings to the side of the H2R are designed to keep that front down at high speeds but that engine (and the short wheelbase of the bike) overcomes everything (even though I believe the rider did this on purpose with the clutch - he was showing off a bit).

It’s what a hypercar should be. When you see them in real life, I’ve seen them at GoodWood, they crawl down the track then floor it a bit and even though it’s only for say 3 seconds you can tell it’s fast and pulls hard by its pickup. But the Rimac Nevera is quicker.

There are some exhausts a bit shorter than that... On a simple Yamaha Tracer 9, on the street, while on my bike, and they are a headache. I wouldn't want to be next to such a beefy bike with a short exhaust.

the horpower war for bikes kinda stopped like 5 years ago, now its more tech, to get faster laptimes. car on the other hand is on a horsepower war, the new regulations and emissions are making them heavier, hence the horsepower war starts. 5-7 years ago, no supercar/hypercar can fight a bike power to weight, but nowadays, even a 911 turbo S can keep up easily with a literbike. to think about it a "normal" a45s is already pushing 400+hp, and the new norm for supercar is already at 700hp either way, a good time to experience both kinda vehicle cheers

Hardly. I like it as it's unique in its own kind, being the only current production bike with a supercharged engine and has a quirky design (I have a soft spot for Kawas too). But in terms of engineering it's miles away. Apart from the supercharged engine there's no much else. It's heavy and far from a design and technological point from modern performing liter bikes. Good for a drag race yes, but around a circuit it would get murdered by that Panigale V4 and all other superbikes with 100+ hp less power, and it would obviously get obliterated by more than 10 secs a lap by a Motogp bike with the same engine power.

This race demonstrates what the last 40 years has done for car development. Where as with bikes, they are not that much quicker in a straight line than a 1999 Hayabusa for example. Its an observation I have had for some time. I guess a bike has its limits and they peaked a long time ago

The rider is not much quicker, not the bike. V4 Sp2 could do 9.5 sec. Car world 40 years ago wasn't poisoned with ugly overweight cars that couldn't do anything besides accelerating on a straight line. Bugatti losing in a braking (!) to h2r was nothing short of humiliation. Both cars and motorcycles are way faster on all other occasions. It's just inherit limits of stock bikes in this specific occasion.

To be frank H2R never reached a true 400 kph. It's just a huge Speedo error. That 400 kph run on a H2R didn't verified by the official gps devices or radar speed trap devices. It's just a Speedo indicated speed. That's it.

Bikes are also limited to 186mph, not sure the car is tbh or the H@r since it's track only, the rolling start was a great example of the differences between bike and car. Bikes are harder to go at a full stop, but while rolling can fly by, but ultimately the car has more horsepower and will eventually get away from the bike.
