To start things off, yes, I own a Volkswagen. However, I love all car culture. Bugattis are cool and all, and I respect their contribution to the automotive industry. But, it is hard to deny Christian von Koenigsegg and his team's determination despite not having so called "pedigree". Furthermore, the founder, himself, came from a working class family and started building his first go kart at age 5. The competition between these 2 companies is unfair. You are comparing one company, founded when automobiles were relatively still new by a man who came from a wealthy family and is currently funded by the world's leading automotive corporation, to a company who was practically founded in a shed by a man who had almost nothing and is currently fighting against the rules and regulations set forth by today's society. Also, you made an error in your video. When the Stig lapped the Top Gear Test Track in 2008, you failed to mention that the Koenisegg had no form of aerodynamics to help slow the car down under heavy braking. Furthermore, this crash happened during a reattempt after the car beat Bugatti's record at the same track driven by the same driver under the same conditions. As a result of this crash, a rear carbon fiber wing was made standard for saftey reasons which actually increased performance slightly. Just stating facts here man. Also, I forgot to mention that when Koenisegg did their most recent world record run. It was in Nevada on an uneven public road. The fact that it achieved that on such a surface is astounding.

The Bugatti didn't break it's own record. At the time of the Super Sports' run, the record was held by the SSC Ultimate Areo at 256 mph. Also Koenigsegg has been the holder of several acceleration records that it's been beating with nearly every car they bring out.

I feel like some very important things have been left out when it comes to Koenigsegg, mainly: 1. They have that one little car that does not have a transmission, the Regera; 2. They make pretty much every single piece of the car, from the wheels to the bolts, in-house, with engines developed specifically by them, for them; 3. They make as much, when not more power than bugattis with like a fourth of the displacement.

Koenigsegg mostly uses a 5 litre engine. Bugatti uses an 8 litre engine. Obviously they have twice the cylinders and turbos, but the displacement isn't that far off.

Answer to you: 1. This car may have a curious transmission but it really hasn't if you know how it works (normal setup like any automatic with a really large torque converter which is used to keep the engine revs at maximum power during acceleration) and this car is neither crazy fast nor track-focused, if you count the cars he missed from bugatti (any special chiron edition besides the 300+, the new "la voiture noire" a 1 of 1, many old racecars, forgot to mention that even the eb110 already had 4 turbos etc...) 2. That is true and really astonishing for a "one-man-company" (really props to Cristian von Koenigsegg), but bugatti basically is the same, their engines are also only for them and all the other parts as well, BUT as they are owned by VW that is way less impressive 3. That's because they have a different setup on their cars (Koenigsegg is trying to build the lightest car with as much power as possible but not sacrificing the low weight, bugatti on the other hand is first building the engine with as much power as they can get out of it and then build the car but they don't try to make it as light as possible) in simple words: If bugatti needs to be quicker they add power, if Koenigsegg needs to be quicker they shave weight..... It's just a different philosophy of cars and I like that they aren't just building the same stuff with a different badge on it like it is with most cars these days

One thing you missed for Koenigsegg on the future round... Christian has been working on Freevalve technology which eliminates the need for camshafts to operate the valves. This tech is used in the Gemeras 3 cylinder engine. Because of freevalve, Koenigsegg has the fastest reving production engine ever made. I believe he said it can rev up to over 13,000rpms, but I would have to find the video again. Not saying the engine can reach 13,000rpms but how fast the engine can get to the rev limiter in seconds. Just insane.

What the scoring should have actually been: Top speed Bugatti and Koenigsegg 5.- Both are top companies in this aspect both historically and presently. Attainability Bugatti 4 Koenigsegg 5- Bugattis are too common, which can caused value to drop. Koenigseggs are sought after like crazy and have gained millions in value as a result. Track performance Bugatti 3 Koenigsegg 4- Bugatti haven't really made all out track cars like Koenigsegg and their cars are too heavy to be racing beasts. Koenigsegg have made incredible track beasts such as the One:1 and CCGT (Jesko will be an absolute beast but has not raced yet so can't really be taken into account) but due to multiple unfortunate circumstances and a long history with track and race organisers, they have not been able to show what these cars are capable of hence the 4. Pedigree Bugatti 4/5 Koenigsegg 3/4- Bugatti is an old company and well known. If you ask a non-car guy what the fastest car is and they'll tell you a Bugatti Veyron. Koenigsegg despite being a lot newer than Bugatti, does have an interesting history, such as the reason why all their cars have a ghost on them, and the story behind their badge. They are also well respected by everyone who knows about them. The future Bugatti 2/3 Koenigsegg 5- Koenigsegg have a bright future ahead of them, producing wacky cars and showing that they are well capable of producing hybrids such as the Regera and the Gemera, they have also created multiple new technologies including Aircore wheels, Freevalve, redesigning the gearbox TWICE, and many more (a more complete list is on their website). Bugatti on the other hand, are stuck selling the same car over and over with a new body or slightly reduced weight. Plus their W16 will not be relevant in a couple of years and they have so far not shown any ability to adapt to renewable energy sources/ hybrid power which will undoubtedly dictate the car market in the next decades. Total score: Bugatti 18-20 Koenigsegg 22-23.

The pedigree category seems weird considering modern Bugatti is not the same company. Bugatti went bankrupt and collapsed in the 60s and the name was bought decades later. Just like in professional sports, the titles and records don’t follow the name, they follow the franchise. Modern day Bugatti shouldn’t receive any credit for a “long heritage” because they only go back to the 1980’s

Future: Koenigsegg has been working with Hybrid powertains for some years nome, they developed FreeValve which is awesome, their transmissions are mindblowing: 7 CLUTCHES!! On the other hand, Bugatti has been using basically the same engine for 15 years, no fancy technology or anything. They only have ONE MODEL (with its respective editions). This was biased towards Buggati. You could easily tell how he kept on supporting Buggati. He left out so many notable Koenigsegg achievements and focused on the less notable Buggati ones. Put up any koenigsseg vs buggati duel of a generation and the egg would win. The 0-400-0 chiron was 10secs slower than an Agera RS. He left out the Regera (Fastest 0-400-0) in the world and CCX as a whole and their records. Also he forgot Koenigsseg made the fastest and most advanced transmission in the world. I like how he only addresses top speed, and not any of the other records koenigsegg holds(correct me if im wrong i don’t want to be like him). Koenigsegg is an absolute monstrosity of a car while Bugatti says “make the engine bigger.” Christian koenigsegg is an innovative genius. To only address top speed is a shame to do to koenigsegg when it has great feats.. Also pedigree was literally just to put koenigsegg at a disadvantage, it would make more sense to compare Lamborghini and Ferrari. I think we can all agree here Koenigsegg is the better car.

Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S was started in 1998 and is the current company. These are three different companies. They share exactly TWO things! The badge and the name Bugatti. That's it! If CvK had bought the rights to the name and badge of Studebaker (1852-1967) does that mean that they have a history spanning 168 years? No. The fact is that Koenigsegg is an older company than the Bugatti of today.

Christian Koenigsegg is such a massive inspiration to me. His life story of how he ended up making Koenigsegg cars, right down to the fact that he is involved with EVERY part of the production of his cars...a massive inspiration to say the least.

@@Winglessflight97 I'd take out the ccx because that car didn't even have traction control and probably that's the only real high end crash that was supposed to be mentioned here. The one:1 crash at the nurburgring was because of a mechanical failure, otherwise the one:1 has set several lap records around various tracks around the world. About the agera crash, the crashed car was a test mule, that's enough said. Test mules crash all the time and this one made the headlines because this is one of the more expensive ones that has crashed.

They want to compare Hypercars, so surely they would compare mind boggling technology that redefines what it means to be a car, but no they can't do that that would mean the host can't let his precious Bugatti win. The Regera has the record for 0-400-0 without a transmission. The jesko has more clutches than the host's car related IQ, and Christian Von Koenigsegg is one of the greatest engineering minds the car world has ever seen, but apparently pushing the boundaries of what is possible and creating amazing new technology in the pursuit to be the ultimate car company can't be factored in to a comparison of hypercar companies. All because they can't let the small company beat that people have maybe heard of.

I think some additional categories could have been considered, like tech/innovation and luxury/comfort. I'd easily see Koenigsegg taking the top spot in the former, with developments in transmission technology for example. I'd even say that their development is significant outside the hypercar realm, since it's not unthinkable to see some of their tech in much more accessible vehicles in the future. Bugatti in turn is basically all about "more is better", which I do not see as very innovative. In turn, at least according to reviewers like Doug DeMuro or Shmee, Bugatti would pull ahead in luxury.

Bugatti is definitely more luxurious. But I don't get why people think that Bugatti just pushes for 'MORE'. Do you really think that giving a car more horsepower is enough to make top speed runs that are comparable to Koenigsegg's speeds? There are plenty of hyper cars that have more than a thousand horsepower but they still can't beat a Bugatti despite being lighter while having a similar horsepower. I really think people underestimate the Bugatti's engineering aspect. It's not easy to make world records with a luxurious tank.

Bugatti is a heritage brand owned by VW. Koenigsegg is the modern embodiment of what made Bugatti great back before they ran out of money and started changing hands. I don’t like the way they scored that round either.

It does. Did it in 2017 with an Agera RS and michelin tyres that Bugatti had earlier suggested would explode at such speeds.CvK even made a slight jab at Bugatti after the run saying the tires were fine. The 300+ doesn't count coz it did one direction and isnt a production car.

It doesn't matter to me which car companies is best.. I love them both. Imagine both companies BUGATTI and Koenigsegg coming together in future. They would create number which are next to impossible .

Yes the LST is so insane! You can shift into any fckin gear you want even though it's kind of a double clutch transmission. It's enormous. They also didn't mention the camless design!
