PERFECT for a first tube amp/first amp, bedroom, or in living room. Add 1-2 pedals, keep it simple.

Key to this amp, don't get discouraged! Take it in get her tuned up, use good outlet by itself, other electronics away from it...keep it simple, single coil guitar, 1-2 pedals. You'll LOVE IT!!! I know at first u may be unhappy, (mass produced, going to be issues), get it working right, you'll really love the amp, offers amazing tone, overdrive everything you need in small package!!!

Beautttiful cleans, nice headroom, great breakup. I'd say yes, change tubes, nothing excessive, just a good brand, maybe a speaker change.

The Cleans are indeed nice on the T5, G5 and V5 it seems. :-)

BEST FOR BLUES/Blues Rock!!! Think "Derek n Domino's" "Layla" nails the original Overdriven Layla tone. Hendrix, SRV, with a tube screamer/fuzz EXCELLENT.

Hello David... To be honest it’s my son’s he’s only used it for practice at home so still on the original valves (tubes!) been ok, surprised I haven’t it back.... with “Dad this ain’t sounding right can you have a look at it” yet !!

I have just bought one of the earlier models of this amp (yet to arrive) and was wondering what tube/valves you would recommend for it to upgrade to.

Hello Robert not sure where you are if in the UK both Watford and HotRox supply good quality properly tested Valves, the descriptions of the sound of the various valves they sell I've had good results with EL84 JJ valves in Peavy and Fender amps Electroharmonix markets well tested Russian Svetlana units too best to stay away from Chinese Tubes to me they seem to suffer from"wasp in a jam jar" distortion ... If your in the US or Canada I've used eurotubes.com they do mainly JJ tubes and are reliable guys..Cheers.....Trevor

@@jetblack11td Hi Trevor. Thanks so much for that info. I’m in the U.K. (Old Windsor, Berkshire) so have made a note of that. Having now used the amp the only thing I’m not too happy with is how low the volume is when playing clean. I like to play some jazz at times and don’t want too much gain. I may have to look at getting another amp just for that. Other than that it’s a nice little amp. Thanks again. Rob

Hello Robert you might find by careful selection of new valves you can get a bit more volume and stay clean... the pre amp valves are ecc83 (12ax7) ecc82 or even ecc81 will lower the gain, certain power valves will stay cleaner at higher power.... might be worth giving HotRox a call they are very helpful....new valves can make an enormous difference I have a silver face Fender twin reverb here at present so loud and clean it's amazing so different from my Marshall's!! Have fun....Cheers....Trevor

@@jetblack11td Hi Trevor. Thanks for that. I will look into it further. Sorry to bother you with this but would you know if changing the original 8 inch speaker for a 10 inch (I’m sure I could alter the housing to accommodate it) would give slightly more overall volume. I’m working on the theory that a 10 inch would move more air therefor more sound. Thanks Rob

Still have it today? How has it been maintenance wise? How many times have you had to change the tubes?
@piemmetubo2 жыл бұрын
The factory states that the tubes in its amps last longer than the same in competitors, thanks to their Infinium circuitry that automatically sets the best bias. Besides, The EL84 tube is a sturdy mule and the electronic design of this amp doesn't stress it at all! The 12AX7 works very, very "relaxed". So, chances are that even with daily long use you will have to replace them only after years...

Anyone know if this is the same amp as the T5? Trying to find a schematic and some mods. I see a lot of mods for the G5 and V5 but none for the T5. Thanks and cool video :-) I just got one and i always like to do mods on my gear, so ive been searching ;-)

Oh yeah. I am using 6n2p NOS Military Spec preamp tube w/adaptor and a 6p14p output tube. These 6n2p tubes are the greatest thing since sliced butter, $10 adaptor makes it possible to use these and they are not even half the price of 12ax7s. Same with the 6p14p in EL84 amps. Im using 2 x 6p14p-ev in all my amps. These tubes remind me of expensive RCA and GE tubes. I own those tubes, infact i own many many tubes. So ive experimented with a lot of them and if anyone who owns this amp has wantedt o try different tubes and hasnt had the money, search for these. :-)

Buy, play it for a couple hours, rattles n hisses? Take to store, lots of distortion rattles the tubes they'll fix it.

Would I have to change the tubes often?
@jetblack11td5 жыл бұрын
depends on how much you play it....really...! 1/2 band practices a week I wouldn't have thought you gig with it unless well miked up though the PA year 18 months... valve amp if they sound a bit off change the tubes can really make a big difference!

That's a shame ...the one we have is fairly quiet as far as background noise goes.....valve amp are always a bit louder that transistor amps... sounds like it maybe a bad valve (tube) but if it's new it should work OK right out of the box...so id take it back for another or a repair...good luck....Trevor

THIS IS A "NOISEY AMP" but, really great strat/tele tones (NO HUMBUCKERS!!! Terrible tone.).
@piemmetubo2 жыл бұрын
@Wm S I just purchased and tested a T5 Infinium head, that is the same as a V5 without the speaker.. Probably it's a newer version, compared to the ones you mention, because its hiss and hum are of an incredible low level. Original valves and burn-in not yet done. I couldn't believe my ears, because it closely reminds me the silence of a Class D amplifier. And, about the humbuckers, this little toaster welcomes and digests very well the pickups both of my Superstrat and of my PRS Custom 24. With the right pedals it is able to unleash a very good and angry Metal sound as well. Of course everything what I wrote is from my humble and limited experience.
@wms70044 жыл бұрын
You must use a really good outlet, away from TV's, and other speakers. They interfere with the signal, adds more bad hissing. If it's bad, they sell "static reducing" plugs $10 at any music store. It helps!! If you think humbuckers will help, NO!!! Too dark and harsh, these need low output single coils. A regular SSS strat IS BEST, takes a Tube Screamer BEAUTIFULLY!!!
