I think the most overlooked concept of the BOB/GHB is that you're moving a long ways over distance AND you need to be useful when you get there. That means foot care kit, that means anti-chafing solution, that means inflammation and muscle damage prevention through specific nutritional support. An older person that pushes themselves to walk 20+ miles is going to be relatively useless for days following a long walk if they aren't specifically conditioned for it. Even if they are, there is a reason grunts all carry this type of stuff, too, because it is a movement followed by a mission.

Please don’t listen to what this man said about water. You won’t be worth a shit after 2 days without water. Drink water daily. Especially in a survival setting. Kinda surprises me that he even suggested that you can go a couple days without water actually. This channel is normally my go to.

A gallon a day is required for a person in regular life imagine how bad you'll be without at least 3 days of water in the apocalypse

@@gilbertcox441 you won’t live 3 days without water. You don’t have to have a whole gallon a day but it’s definitely the recommended amount. I’ve gone a few days on just a couple bottles a day out in the woods. As you mentioned, during a SHTF situation you’ll need more as an average human because your stress levels, blood pressure, anxiety..all that will be way up. You can’t go a couple days without water. You’ll cramp up so bad you’ll be worthless.

For us cheapos who can't afford fancy fire gear just coat 1 cotton ball in patroleum jelly (this whole set up will cost you less than $10 and you can make as many fire starters as you want; shopping list: bag of cotton balls, patroleum jelly, key chain pill case. Match heads and magnesium shavings are optional) So you, kind of have to tear it and work the jelly in while allowing microfobers to still be seen when the ball is ripped in pieces. I also shave some magnesium into the cotton ball and cut up match heads to increase ignition probability. 1 cotton ball will burn 10-15 minutes. Now buy a portable pill case for a keychains for around $1.00 each, you can fit 4-5 cotton balls in one pill case and it fits on your key chain. When it's time to start the fire, all you need is a spark from a lighter or faro rod after you expose the internal fibers. You can also get a 5 pack of Mylar blankets on Amazon for around $3.00, if you're tight on a budget but fear being caught in the cold.

Carry matches. I just ran an experiment on my new electric lighter/flash light putting it in the freezer and while the flash light worked fine the lighter would not work until it warmed up the charge light would blink and not hold an arc . I thought of this because of the solar system I just built the instructions limit charging to above freezing and just below 0 . Recently temperature has been 15 to 20 below.

I hate the Get Home Bag and Bug Out Bag are used the same in this. I don't need the same items to get home as I do for a bug out. Bivvy is useless to me for a 1 hour bike ride/ 4 hour walk to get home. Hell, I am trying to figure out why I carry 50 yards of cordage to get home.

Thanks for the list. I find batteries, or electronics in general seem to be the first thing people toss or forget in their kits. With a GOOD plan you can seriously reduce the number of batteries you need and only carry a battery pack and limited accessories for recharging just about any tool you have.

it's trapped AIR that insulates you. I use an XL size "Trifecta' reflectorized Tyvek bivy from 2GoSystems, with an "envelope" around it made of a pair of taped-together heavy-duty 55 gallon drum liners. It can a sleeping bag, a pocho,, wraped around you tightly, or used as a canopy-tarp. The insulation comes from my concealable armor, the 2 half lb each Amazon "cut leaf" camo nets. Twist them so that the "leaves" CANNOT "lay flat" and wrap them around your limbs. In between a couple of 1/4 lb each, full-body Amazon bugnet "suits". All this worn a longjohns. This gets me sleeping ok at 30F, in the wind, in a net hammock. I can get down to 20F, by using debris between the bugnet suits and betwee the wraps of the camo nets (this time outside of my cammies) While wearing netting-type lonjohns from Wiggy. In a dry bag, I keep a set of both types of military polypro longjohns. I" dont wear them except for sleping. and they are worth another 10F degrres. /So is the UCO lantern with its beeswax candle, so is exercise. So are hot rocks or water bottles (for 2-3 hours at a time, the they must be re-heated by the discrete Dakota fire pit.

I was hoping you would name some things I hadn’t thought of and included in my bag…A gps device was it. And where I am my physical maps that I carry are sufficient. That bulky flashlight is okay to stuff in your bag but I have always carried a stream light protac 2L-X in my left front pocket until recently I upgraded to stream lights protac HL-X which is not too bulky (I wouldnt want it to be any larger though) and has 1000 lumens maximum potential brightness. The 2L-X being 500 lumens. Both are tough and dependable lights.

Maybe I missed them but a good full-tang blade, a small folding saw, a poncho and several lighters and candles! I think that you might rely on electronics too much; if the 'problem is an EMP (whether man-made or solar CME) those electronics are going to be paper weights! What about a map and compass? Low-tech gear tends to be more reliable! Personally, I carry a small tent as weather can be a quick killer if you're not prepared! You mentioned the desert but no matter the environment you need to carry at least two gallons of drinking water and the ability (knowledge + skills) to acquire more! And don't forget gloves, if you can't use your hands then you're probably SOL!

I carry a small jar of petroleum jelly. I can cook my carbon steel knives, use it as chapstick or smear it on anything I want to start on fire instead of carrying cotton balls. I also added two waterproof rechargeable hand warmers because I'm here in Canada. Just like the rechargeable plasma Arc lighters you can have heat and fire indefinitely with a solar panel. I have everything on your list. I'm totally prepped. I have to keep saying that so I don't buy any more stuff.

I also have a couple of lifeboat packs of water they can freeze and stand up to heat and are still usable water.

1. Plasma Arc lighters can be a good fire starting method but the thing you have to understand with those is that the plasma Arc that is generated and used to start a fire functions and behaves differently compared to the flame on a traditional lighter. 2. If you're willing to spend a little bit more money on a good flashlight and/or a headlamp you want to get something that is both rechargeable but can also be powered with some sort of battery like AAA batteries or what have you. Such as a Rovyvon E1 flashlight.

Just being honest here. Your relying to much in electronics. Of you don't have any way of charging them like a solar panel. And you have no way of protecting the electronics from an EMP. If that's the case. On your side you did mention a solar panel but didn't show one. And you have to keep your battery charged, as you know the cold will take the power away.
