You have white butterfly caterpillars. Some call it white cabbage moths, but it is a butterfly. They lay their eggs under the leaves. They hatch and eat the leaves. They don't like swiss chard. I had the same issue. Spray BT which is considered ok for organic gardening. 30ml in 10 litres of water. Spray after each rain.

Justin my daughter went through the same thing you are. She fell 'up' the stairs and smashed her front five teeth to bits. It looked like she'd been in a bad car wreck. After a lot of dental work and two bone grafts, two years and a lot of money later she got her new implants and it's all good. I wish you well and less pain.

I so enjoy your vlog! Congratulations on the baby! I’m hoping for a girl like the children! Saw that the sunflowers are gone wondered if you harvest for the cows. Anyway I love sunflowers. I agree 💯percent about failing! If you don’t first succeed, try , try ,again! I love growing things. Love, love, seeing you grow things! The children to me are the best! But the beauty of your farm is nothing short of amazing. It is so lush and green. Amazing! Hope the gums grow up nicely for you and you will soon recover and feel better. I know this is long but just wanted to say them. God bless you as you and your sweet family keep growing along! Family is everything! 🥰

Flea Beetles. I would suggest that when you put them down in the ground you cover the ground with DE. You created a perfect home for the bugs under those covers. If they are there you just created a bug Hilton with them. Moist, warm, food, bug heaven. A simple Dawn Dishsoap spray will do wonders, In the spring the bugs haven't emerged. In the fall, they are up and raring to go. BT, Neem oil, DE, Soap Spray, will get you a long way ahead. IMHO. I've had the same successes and failures.

It's not really a failure, you're still gaining from it: lessons learned, more experience, and opportunities to try something new. Gardeners can follow the same formulaic methods year after year... and some years will be phenomenal successes, while others will "fail" spectacularly. Maybe try a different variety of seeds, or transplant to a different part of the garden, or note what was grown in that spot before (was it healthy or sickly?). Keep detailed records, you have video records so write this stuff down so you can see at a glance what/where/when/result. Keep learning, teach your kids what worked AND what didn't... they have good ideas. 🙂

Do you have trouble with slugs? Kinda looks like the slug damage we are having. All the rain we've been getting seemed to make both the slugs and the army worms here go crazy - AL, zone 7b. The slugs made it under the insect netting. :-( Too many to pick off, so I just cleared out the plants and anything they could hide in, used a flame torch on the bare soil, going slower to hopeful kill any hiding, and then replanted from direct sown seed. And recovered it with bug netting again before the seeds came up. Hoping it works....

I live in South East Charlotte and my kale got hit by moths a week ago soooo bad. The most worms I've ever seen in one spot. They are a brown moth that lays larvae that then eat the kale just like yours. They didn't bother the Swiss chard right next to it. I now have no kale

I would say, spray the kale with neem oil next year before September so that the larvae can't be laid?
