The original 1999 DVD video of this came with a nice written narration of each segment. Too bad that Segment 6 is largely unknown. That's Nick of Nick's Garage fame with the Sassy Grass Green Hemicuda. This was a Muscle Car Review sponsored July 1993 match race. 2 out of 3 runs in Naperville outside of Montreal. . The GSX took the 1st run, even after Nick red-lighted. All the fuss you see was because Nick refused to run a second race because he knew that he was covered. So the magazine article was sabotaged and was never in the magazine. ... Larry Rose

That was badass at the end, the GN kicking ass. They can still compete today with some of the modern muscle, but require lots of aftermarket. Several stock block GN and Turbo Ts have managed to break into the 8's and if you swap a Series 2 or 3 3800 into a GN and build it up you can do even better running into the 8's without having to worry about your block splitting and hell the 3800 can use the stock crank and main caps. Hopefully someone stateside will push the 3800 or 3.8L into the 7's in a GN or Turbo Regal. I am sure it can be done, just need to fire ring the block to handle the massive amount of boost it will require for the 3800 to crank out the massive torque and hp required.

No-one uses the 3800 V-6 in a GN. There are numerous reasons why not.

Thankful for Mark Heppington, for endeavoring to tune cars like the Grand National. I am still using the stock ECM in my GN and because guys are able to burn specific tunes for us to support builds.
