I think what I like most about your videos is that you show your projects being done where and how most of us do our projects: on the back of the pickup bed or in a small corner of the garage with some good tools and some not so great tools. While you aren't Norm Abrams, most all of us aren't. To me that just goes to prove anyone with determination and a little innovation can be good at woodworking. Thanks!

My "Older" brother made one of those way back then. I think it finally bit the dust about 5 years ago. Why not make a deeper rabbet at the top of the doors, then they go up into the rabbet to clear the bottom, then drop into the bottom channel. Gravity does the rest. Great Project. Alan

I have to give a little shout out to Alex Harris it was from one of his videos I was directed to Your's Steve. And I agree completely with WhatIsKenDoing I learned from untrained relatives who's most common tool was a can of beer lol. I like the lack of over my head tech talk and the everyday Joe way of using tools at hand space available and improvisation. Only difference is my truck bed is a wooden 76 Chev and the fact I could never get my son to help. Keep up the great vids.

Steve i gotta say what a wonderfull piece, i never thought i would be one to fall in love with the 50s style furniture but that may have converted me. On a side note, please dont respond to these negative comments, your giving them exactly what they want and stooping to their level. Those of us that appreciate your videos would rather see you respond to the constructive comments/suggestions.

Steve, as I am a lathe guy, taking three hours for making legs is fine. they are straight, clean. I applaud you really. as long as you get them to how you like them. who cares if they took 3 hours, or three days.. Good job! I will have to double check but I just might have a live center that will actually spin so you don't have to grease up that end of a spindle.

Love the cabinet. When I built mine many years back, now in the landfill due to lack of space on the moving truck, I made the upper track groove 3/8" deeper than the bottom, so I could remove the doors if necessary. No wax paper necessary, since the doors weren't put in until after finish put on my box. PS - I have used a telegraph key in a friend's HAM shack. ;)

I don't have a workshop setup, but I needed a credenza. I just took one off craigslist, happened to be an IKEA one. Modified it with a stronger back panel as opposed to cardboard, glued and nailed it to the back horizontally, then glued, nailed and bolted a similarly sized panel vertical to mount my TV on. I mention it because I wish I had done what you did for wire management holes. I put seven holes in the back of the panels for cable routing using an 1 1/4 spade bit. Figured only an HDMI cable and a power cord would go through them. Well, I underestimated my surround sound setup. Seven speakers and two subwoofers worth of cabling is too much for a 1 1/4 inch hole.

Great job. Gives me some ideas. For future reference, if you make the door slots deeper on the top than on the bottom, you can fully assemble the project then just tip the finished doors into the top slot and drop them down into the bottom one. Makes for easy removal, if necessary.

Beautiful project, Steve! I was actually thinking about something like this yesterday, and now this old video pops up....... My idea would be to mount my flat screen on the wall with a bracket, so that I can have the sliding doors on the TOP of the unit, drop the stereo receiver and CD player down into it vertically, with a record turntable on the other side. Also, 'extensions' of the 'floor' of the box where I can set some speakers.

Might help the drawers slide easier if you fold a piece of fine grit sand paper and touch up on the bottoms of the sliding areas. Also if you applied some paste wax in the runners it would really help those things slide nicely(amateur woodworker). Overall great video! I love how you planned in your layout to capture beauty of the sapwood of the cherry

I really like it! Just a note on behalf of the safety board! be very careful with hot irons they are hot! They can burn you! :) I also love the cherry with the contrasting heartwood! One note about the sliding doors... should you ever want to remove these for some reason you are kind-if stuck. If you had engineered top rabbit on the top larger than the bottom and sized the door just right they could have been removable by lifting up on the door and sliding out the bottom edge. Good job!

Nice job, after loading with various equipment you will likely begin to notice a bending of the floor of the cabinet at the four leg connections. A board below floor 3/4' to 1" x 4 1/2" x span of the width of outer spaces [better visual all the way across] structurally will prevent distortion. The outside sides of this board should have a bevel of 45 degrees or so. regards

This turned out beautiful, man. Big fan of the show, actually used your "lumber cart" video for inspiration for a similar project a few months back. Moving into my own apartment soon and want a modern credenza just like this, but not for the price people are asking. So I Google'd "credenza plans" and guess who showed up first? Will definitely be making one of my own.

Great project steve. It always made sense to me, to have a stereo or "entertainment center", in a cabinet of some sort. When they started selling those cube-type individual components in the 60's or 70's, there was just no style to it anymore. At first, I thought you were supposed to put them in your own cabinet of some sort but when I found out that no, they were "done" and supposed to look like that? Yuk. Glad you're trying to make the world, make sense again. Ok, maybe a little dramatic. LOL
