Build a Basic XML Parser in Crestron SIMPL+

In this video, I discuss how to build a basic XML parser that can read from a file on a Crestron processor. This can be used to retrieve room specific data and allows you to run the same compiled program on multiple systems with different configuration data such as room name, phone number, etc.

Great video! The SIMPL+ guide doesn't explain reading from files very well, so I was having trouble with this. I hope you do more advanced stuff like this, I didn't see much content on your website that was on this level. One thing, why are you using RETURN; in If/Else statements? There is no value being returned so what does this do? For example, line 104 and 116

How can one get access to work with simpl or become a Creston programmer

This is always a challenging question because you have to either work for a Crestron dealer or partner, or be affiliated with one. The SIMPL development tools are not available publicly. I'm sure there are legitimate business reasons for this, but it really makes it difficult to get started with the platform. So long story short, I guess trying to find a job with an existing Crestron dealer where you could work your way into a programming position would be the best path.
