Thanks for this video. Definitely building one of these with my V2 pico that can also use 3s. We need a company to design a whole series of frames of all sizes and types that fast swap the 03.

@@flyingpudding Built mine yesterday. 81.8g dry weight with tri blade props and a 5g standalone vifly beeper. I don't have to worry about 100g limit here, so may also add another 4g or so with a tiny M10 gps at some point. I can't bring myself to fly an 03 over water without RTH failsafe lol. Took a very quick spin out front and she flew very smoothly. Hope to fly more later on today. What did you use for adhesive to the card? I used shoe goo and some thin strips of gorilla tape and it seems to be holding well, but I'm a little paranoid about the weight of the 03 on power loops and such. I put the X frame under the card so at least the quad and 03 wont completely separate if this happens. Thanks again for the detailed build instructions.

@@kurtzFPV It is GREAT to hear that another Toothpico was built!🤩I used CA (superglue) and contact cement for reinforcement. Adding tape and putting the cross below the card is good insurance, good job. Happy flying!

@@flyingpudding Just got a full flight in before the rain. 4:30 on a slow cinematic flight with a 2s 650hv. The flight was smooth and I stopped a little above 3.5 per cell. The only thing I'd like to do now is find a gummy that will fit the holes in the x frame to save the time and tediousness when going back and forth to the regular pico frame and ensure a little more bite of those screws into the 03 without over tightening. I'll probably stay in this configuration far more often though. Might also have to convert the 03 to naked at some point. Have a good day.

@@kurtzFPV very nice! Does it feel sluggish with the 2s 650? I want to try a 550 or 600 and see if I could push toward the 5min mark doing slow cruise or 4min with sports or light acros.

Very nice build! I might have to do something like this since I’ve not had good video from my Pavo Pico. My first one caught fire mid air 4th flight but it had silky smooth video, and my second one with the 20A esc has horrible jello no matter what I do. This build idea looks way more fun anyways!

Haha you are the 2nd person asking, hinting that I should have included my planning process before the project. I did a comparison table with different configurations before the project began. It turns out that the extra weight from the 1103s and an extra cell (3s at 46g) would not only negate the weight reduction of going naked but add a few grams more. The calculated AUW exceeds 99.9g so the option was dropped. Thank you very much for watching and your comment!

Did you have to change the PID tuning? How is the cg on your build? That is a ingenious conversion thank you very much for sharing. My mobula8 - tinyape Frankenstein Quad is allot less clean of a build and i had to order the Darwin fpv motors because I was afraid of trying to drill holes. Also i still have props in view during slow flight. Bad cg, and i need pid tuning. So i am already considering a rebuild like yours.
@flyingpudding
@flyingpudding 11 ай бұрын
You are welcome! I still use the default Betaflight 4.4 PID. CG is close to the center of the quad just like the original pico, but it shouldn't matter much at its size. Yes, you will get prop-in-view if you are not using a stretched X or deadcat layout. The workaround is to raise the camera cage and/or use higher tilt. Still it is best to get a compatible frame and convert. Happy building and flying, and share your progress with us!

Thanks for watching! Are you referring to the close caption? Maybe I will space them out a little bit more next time. 🙏 Similar mod may work for the Pavo20. Just that it prolly wont be sub 100g and I supposed that we want to use larger props like 2.5" (or 3"). Longer arms may put the props inside the POV.

@flyingpudding yes , it was too fast to read and so interesting to me to not read it 😍 The dificulty is to find a frame wich match de specs needed. There is another youtuber that modiffied the ducts on the pavo20 but the carbon frame is no thick enoungh to get crashed... Lets hope some brands think about this. 3s is great for dji o3
@flyingpudding
@flyingpudding 11 ай бұрын
@@Ruilo I will keep that in mind, thanks for your feedback!🤩 Yes, a heavier quad would need a beefier frame to withstand crash impact. I do have a 3" version of the frame used in the video, will build a Toothpavo20 later and see.

@@flyingpudding yeah, the sub100g is hard. Sure you have to stay with 2s. Try the betafpv 1103 11000kv on 2s or the 1003 14000kv on 2s. Of course naked o3. You'l be sub100g. Gemfan 2015 of course
@flyingpudding
@flyingpudding 11 ай бұрын
@@chrisbee5481 Yes that may work too. I do have a set of 1103 11,000kv and they work well on 2s. On the other hand, this is going to be my travel quad and a stock O3 is more robust, isn't it?
@chrisbee5481
@chrisbee5481 11 ай бұрын
@@flyingpudding I'm not a fan of sub100 or even sub250. Although light weight is always a better feel and more efficient. Of course non naked is more robust. We wouldnt do it for anything elese but trying to be legal weight. My perfered 2" 2s motor is 1202.5 11000kv. Mainly because it has a 2mm internal motor shaft that doesnt bend on a crash. Important on a toothpick build like this. Just adds 5~10g. I wish flywoo or betafpv would use the same recipe as the flylens85 or pavo20 from the frame and make a light weight o3 build on 2.5" base. I'd love 1203 9500kv motors on 2S or 1203 8000kv on 3s. HQ or gemfan just needs to make a good bi blade 2.5" prop like the gemfan 2015.
@flyingpudding
@flyingpudding 11 ай бұрын
@@chrisbee5481 Would 9500kv be too low for 2s? I think 11,000kv is good for 2s and gemfan has made a pretty decent 65mm toothpick props before. Yes, they should make a new version of it like the 2015.
