I had a wonderful Stepfather everybody called Mac. 1week after he married my Mom, we went off to build a cabin in a lake community, there was over 400 acre's of woods connected to the back, with permission for a 14 year old to wander, and the Lake was around 75 acres, . We built our cabin, he showed me how, He was a great man But too much older than me, WW2 Vet Guadal Canal, I miss him more the older I get. He's been gone so Long. You wearing his Shirt .....

Hey man, i love your builds, i hate seeing people calling your builds fake, you are a true master of your craft, and an inspiration to everyone

Fake or not. Who cares if he is 20 feet from his driveway. People can be idiots. He is showing you his skills, and what you can aspire too. I love this type of content as well. What are we supposed to think? That he is surviving off the grid, and somehow his tribulations are recorded, and placed on YT? lol, Whatever!

How would it be fake? I mean I wonder about the milled timber. I’m like you, I enjoy watching it.

I am impressed by all shelter buildings; in back yard, in the field, on top of a mountain and in the woods. I don’t have skills or land to build anything, so, I’m very impressed. 👍🏾👏🏽

Hello from Oklahoma! Good Video! Thank You So much for showing how to build a viable dugout type shelter. And in so many different ways. They all look cozy and warm. I can see this will be a lot of work but worth it in the end. Thanks for all You Do! God Bless!

I live in Oklahoma and so many have remarked they wouldn’t build one due to the copperheads and rattlesnakes here. My uncle came here in a covered wagon about 1912 and his mother was widowed, they lived in a dugout for awhile till they could get something better. And it was in an area known for lots of rattlesnakes.

Saweet video thanks for sharing. You know what could make it super neat and if you plan on adding any renos. May i suggest extenting the front and adding a deck and making a secret underground bunker under the deck. That way you can be in your main living area, create another room for wood storage and anything else but in there lays a secret panel. 😅😊

It's WW II: you and a team of Partisans are in the mountains. This is a fine shelter. Today, as then, one would need a supply chain to provide for food. For efficiency, each of these shelters would need to be sized for two persons. Firewood would quickly become scarce. Just lately, there are drones and heat-sensing devices that do not allow Partisans to hide. This is still a fine shelter for a hunting camp or a vacation.

Also, not sure why you skipped out on buying some bushcraft fire bricks, asphalt shingles, or masonry cement when you stopped at the hardware store. Or why you left chainsawing the logs out of the video... You know, other bushcraft things.

Even though he is using modern tools, he is using a method of construction that has probably been used for thousands of years until the advent of modern construction technology. It's amazing what someone can create using simple tools like that to build a warm and comfortable shelter that will probably be around for a very long time.
