I realize this is an old video but I built it from schematic at your website. It sounds great! The 500K ohm potentiometer is correct. I tried a 100K and it cut the volume to about 1/2. Very good video...

at 5:09 what is that thing with the buttons and knobs? (Only thing in the video I couldn't figure out! Driving my nutty!!) Sounds great with the Soul Bender, btw - can't wait to build one of these, maybe to splice into the speakers in my car... could open the hatch and play guitar with the car off using a 9v battery, right?!

Cool just subbed hey looking for an amp like this but both ac/dc voltage outs with the speaker out like you already got plus run on a 9 volt battery would be awesome

@alexcantley91376 жыл бұрын
Could you come out of the amplifier circuit and go into an effect circuit within the amp to create different " flavours " of amplifier ?
@wertherellerbrock4 жыл бұрын
Very nice! Just something that's not clear to me: this amp will work by plugging the guitar directly into it? Because usually, you need a preamp stage and then a power amp stage, but it seems like you're going in directly. Like when you're playing before turning on any of the pedals before it like the EQ or the Reverb.

Hey, bro, first off, thanks for the pointers. I wonder if you could tell me how to make a bass guitar amp. I'm clueless on electronics but I can put everything together if directed. Which components would I need for a bass guitar amp?
@davissimo1239 жыл бұрын
I like this tune! Could i ask what you were playing?
@Pryside9 жыл бұрын
You are saying, that it makes a loud sound, but do the components get hot, when you are playing? Because this would make a nice portable battery amp, but it should be efficent for that ^^

Nice job buddy, Is there any advantage in the sound quality of this TDA over the TDA2003 that used in famous Anderton's practice amp? could this be used as an amp for a cab sim pedal using impulse responses? Say the Digitech Cabdryvr?
@davidstewart414910 жыл бұрын
I don't see any answers to questions here, but maybe someone will have an idea... I'd have two things I'd want to do with this: 1. Add one or two effects to it--like, say, chorus, delay, or reverb. Would that be doable while still keeping the thing small? 2. I'd like to actually wire it into my guitar--route out a cavity for it, put it in as a headphone amp. (With controls for volume or gain, and whatever effects can be squeezed into it.) Is that possible?
@rohandeshpande89706 жыл бұрын
The second one is possible, although I'd recommend having another output jack straight from the pickups, so if you decide to hook the guitar up to another amp you won't be using two amps at once.

Think of building one of this (already have all the parts) but I might include a Obliviator in front and in the same enclosure probably - madbean's circuit for Bajaman Sonic Stomp. Could be a interesting tone control for this.

Seeing as you're using the Fender Twin speakers, does that essentially make that tin a head? It sounds amazing!
@DiyguitarpedalsAu9 жыл бұрын
Rowan Vincent Correct! The tin is the head and the speaker section of the fender twin combo is a "speaker box".
@squidkid27 жыл бұрын
It doesn't sound remarkable despite how few components it has. It sounds remarkable BECAUSE of how few components it has! This is one of the 10 commandments of amplifier design. The fewer components between the source (guitar) and output (the speaker) the better. What you then hear is basically the true sound of the guitar and the speaker. Every guitar player should learn how different guitars sound without a load of crap between them and the output. Besides these aren't really guitar amps in the traditional sense. They are really just preamps with just enough power (maybe 1 watt) to drive a full size speaker but not to any significant level. They really are headphone amps. They can drive large speakers with a 9v battery but rapidly deplete the capacity of a small battery. But they are great if you want to plug in a good set of headphones and get great earful of clean guitar sound. Any guitar player who really wants to learn how different guitars sound would be amazed at how many different colors one can get from just the different pickup combinations and tone settings on say a Strat without any effects at all in the signal path. Without the other half of a traditional guitar amp (the power output or second stage) you're not going to drive a Marshall Stack with this but if you want to hear what cleanly amplified guitar really sounds like these things are a revelation. I've played guitar for forty years and recently built one of these $10 Radio Shack 386 op amp based puppies and it sounded so much like an original Black Face Twin that it was uncanny. And I should know because I had a friend who had a brand new Black Face Twin in the late sixties and the sound of that amp is etched in my brain. Also with a battery there is also no coloration from AC power supply components. Just pure clean sound.

Hi Paul, DIY Pedals, Nice little amp. The TDA series of chips are a great choice for "Chip" amps. I may have mentioned before, but, John Audio Tech on KZbin is an excellent channel for chip amp construction and reviews, very knowledgeable. Also, I've have suggested building a Runoffgroove.com Ruby 1/2 watt guitar practice amp that works great and with the 1K gain pot, sounds like a lot more than 1/2 a watt. You can easily drive a 12" speaker and have seen up to 4, 12" speakers. I would use 12 volts for that, usually 9 volts, 8-ohm's and your golden. However, you can use 4 to 16 load impedance with the Ruby. The Ruby uses an LM386 audio op-amp and an MPF-102 J-FET, the MPF-102 I have found to be the best. Schematic at Runoffgroove.com or Google Images. Try one, they Rock. Take care, Cheer's, C.

Will this be compatible with an Electro-Acoustic Guitar? Or is it strictly for electric guitars? I ask because I have a T66ACE Electro-Acoustic Guitar from Lag Guitars and it's my pride and joy. It is my baby. It is my partner in performance and I want an amplifier for it so I can drown out my cousins, nieces and nephew whenever they come over. I love them, but they're still kids and kids are loud and annoying most of the time.
