Extremely simple workable build, but outdoors you talk about droop in the elements and straighten them out...Birds are gonna do a number on that, cause they will tend to land and sit on the elements...I built Hoover-Grey antenna's and although antenna sites say I should not receive signals, I receive several year round and even more once the trees loose their leaves...The one I use now is in an aluminum three season room up against a window...I never thought it would do much in that situation, but a real surprise as I can capture 6 signals as mentioned year round...Enjoy your video's Sir...

I had built this antenna in the summer of 2013. I was able to pick up a Russian tv station at my location (Winschoten,The Netherlands) on channel R1 transmitter location unknown.

Would adding four elements the same length on each side of the dipole antenna increase the signal strength ??? Thanks
@NorthcoasterHobby Жыл бұрын
Possibly, I might try that.

Look forward to your result NCH. Please keep me in the loop and peace too. vf@@NorthcoasterHobby

@@victoryfirst2878 Do you mean like fanning them out like whiskers? Like a bow tie antenna?

How does the transformer minimize signal loss?
@NorthcoasterHobby Жыл бұрын
Equalizes the impedance between the elements and the coaxial cable. Less loss between the two.

If you use a Balun buy a Channel Master CM 94444 it is ready & has eyelets made to it for convenience

Wow good 👍 signal ❤️

The only down side I can see to this is moisture infiltration of the wood effecting the impedance.
@NorthcoasterHobby Жыл бұрын
You could use a piece of vinyl trim, or paint the wood.

I live 200 miles away from any tv towers in Wyoming! Now will it work for me or not! You didnt say if its a Long range or a short range !
@NorthcoasterHobby10 ай бұрын
Definitely a short range antenna. See my other replies.

Nice. I ordered one too.

How far are you away from the tv towers? You didnt say!
@NorthcoasterHobby10 ай бұрын
I’m about 7 miles from the towers in my area. I’d say a homemade antenna like this might be good for 15-20 miles, give or take, under ideal reception conditions. No antenna will capture TV signals from 200 miles away. The curvature of the earth restricts reception to a maximum of 70 miles. Have you considered FTA satellite? What is the frequency of your antenna bro?
@NorthcoasterHobby Жыл бұрын
Probably about 88 MHz, based on the dipole lengths.

I wanna try this but indoor would this be safe to do so?
@NorthcoasterHobby4 ай бұрын
@@staticxboy3000 As long as the antenna is placed in a spot where nobody will walk into it, trip over it or poke their eye. It’s no different than using rabbit ears or any other indoor TV antenna. Just make sure it’s placed in a safe spot.
