When that dude decided to cut ties, he really cut ties, lol! I don't know how old this episode is, but I'm happy to lone my brain to anyone else thinking of taking on one of these "projects". It amazes me how naive all of these couples are going into these situations. There were so many areas where they could have picked-up valuable time & saved money if they had just totally thought thru their goals vs investment. I never heard of any planning for the business other than buying a boat. What about licenses, insurance, back-up safety protocols, pre-searching & ID'ing known dive sites from their computer, etc? And, who in their right mind would plan to start a seasonal business w just 4-6 wks left in the season - and no customers booked, advertisements, etc.? Simon made an off-handed comment on their boat about it being like "playing" instead of working. I think that was a big part of the plan for him & when it became evident that they had blown their chance to be constantly playing, he decided to cut bait & bolt.

If they had only made a foolish decision for two, then fine. But to endanger innocents with their naivete is just reason to fault them. What they needed was better upbringing, a better plan, and a clue. Neither had enough hard knocks supporting their parents by working along-side in boat building ahead of time. Nor had they the perspective. They should have been already in a full retirement, with a shore side support system. They needed 150 to renovate safely to drag folks out to sea for profit, not 15. The harbormaster and the fishing community should have mitigated this situation before it punished the kids and pets.

I have lived on boats for well over 20 years. I am a master craftsman. I have built a number of boats. Its not easy. The yearly maint is costly, you must have the bottom cleaned every year at least 1 time. ropes, dock lines, fenders, hull inspections, and more, it can be a FULL TIME JOB, What will happen... she will have to have it hoisted out of the water and cleaned, that size boat can cost 100 of thousands, she will be overwhelmed bye the bills alone, and sell it, or abanded it. Unless she can buy a bit of shore land and movet it off the water perm.

Called that 10 mins in. This family seemed to have missed the boat on safety and common sense. First clue was the wood sanding in the bathroom with no eye wear or mask. 3 small kids on a cramped boat with dangling electrical was just waiting for disaster. Not a safe place for small kids at all. Maybe for a retiring couple or someone with a more grown child. The kids are going to grow and hate those rooms. She got a nice room and still gave them closets to sleep in. I give it a couple years before they sell.
