I'm planning on building a pipe anvil. I was planning on welding it together but I REALLY like your idea of bolting it together and my brain is swimming in ideas for adjustability and changability. Thanks! You should never underestimate the genius of simplicity!

It also allows you to roll the metal around in a circle, and still get it off the end...

Learn something new every time I see one of your videos! I didn't even know this tool existed! So happy to have a voice for a noise instead of those "Royalty Free" audio bites lol

Always a good idea to bolt as much together as posable. Makes revising a lot easier. And almost everything I make need some sort or revision.

Good morning, excellent video. Your right, a pipe anvil is absolutely essential for compound curves. I use to work for a company that skinned stock car bodies. That pipe vice really made wheel flares a beautiful job. We learned to bend the metal offset to really make a beautiful compound curves requiring very little if any body filler. Thanks for a great video. You take care and good luck.

I'm thinking I'll make one just for the exercise. Even if it doesn't get used a lot, it might give me ideas for projects. Thanks for sharing.

Just found the channel, saying hi from Scotland. Your kids in school are lucky. All we got as students was the discover the innate ability of how to fuck up a piece of 2x4 with a tenon saw.

I made one 4 feet long. I have used it a lot. The four feet are great to store your gas welding rod. I made it the same height as my vice so I can use it as a sawhorse. It works well to hole metal from the anvil (a dead man). For your lock nut or nylon nut or ny-loc nuts, I like using Loc-tite.

just a thought ,,, if you put one set of bolts say a foot in from the edge , you could do full circles on the open edge and lift them off ,,,

Oh! Brilliant! I may add some holes just for that opportunity! Thanks!!

You probably know this but if you want to mark a centre line along the length of a pipe to align holes at either end for instance (as you drilled in each pipe) you can use a length of angle iron laid with its open side on the pipe (so the spine of the 90 it pointing up away from the pipe) as it self aligns and gives you an edge to mark along. Hope my description makes sense. If not here’s a picture of the end on profile

Makes perfect sense! I will do that next time.

You built your own house too? Amazing. What can't you do? ;)

Dance. Seriously. I dance like I should be eating more fiber. I did not build my own house, but I did design and build this shop. My hat is off to construction workers; I don't know all the tips and tricks to build houses quickly and easily. And wood seems to have a mind of its own.
