If anyone is watching this without any DLC, you can use the Small Shack Floors in place of the Hay Bales to give those turrets a boost. I did this today by using the pillar glitch to fit them in.

I'm sure you're LONG past looking at the comments section but I still want to say Thank You ! These tips are still relevant today (2022) and so helpful to even veteran players. I often run your videos in the background as I build my game in MO2 and decide which settlement mods to include in my latest game. (Yes, I'm one of those sacrilegious fools who dabble in mods) but even with Place Anywhere high in my load order, the creativity and ingenuity your builds inspire make my game so much more fun. I often start with a Transfer Settlements build (from one of the many ultra-talented modders on the Nexus) and after a few days in-game I add my own touches using what I've learned in your videos... these towers are going to be surrounding my next Tenpines build for sure. 😃

You’re probably the best video instructor on KZbin, for ANY topic. Really understand how to break things down to teach, then have a great voice and mic technique for conveying it. A trick I use to get turrets shooting above the railings is by using the short wooden steps. A small floor tile will snap to the top of them & make a nice platform. I just put it together on the ground, group select, then place it before adding a turret. Pushing the edge of the floor against the rail to "support" it, of course. Plus you have the option of using 1 set of steps opposite of the railing, or a set on both sides. If you have limited room, you can always just remove the stairs all together to give it a shelf like look, or use a pillar in stead. I do use mods, but I love your videos no matter the length, & I use your tricks all the time. Hopefully my little tip will help you, & your subscribers. If I think of any more, I'll be sure to let you know. Keep up the great work! Thanks, Teach!! [DJ Thorn]

This video taught me several things. - How to make better looking settlements - THAT YOU CAN GROUP SELECT, WHICH I WISH I KNEW A LONG TIME AGO - HOW to group select / how it works. - How to make good looking gun towers (I personally do it based on faction. Wasteland-ish ones are just scaffolding and MG turrets) I'm also glad I'm not the only person who knows of and uses the wiring glitch.

For the Raider style, when trying to get the pieces together around 19:34, there is this gentleman named Jug who shows a stacking concept in his Fallout 4 Sanctuary Settlement Building Tips video. Basically you stack small wooden blocks over and over into a 3 by 1 segment and it allows you to determine where boards can go with an easier time. Just thought to share it. That way there's no "estimating".

Also, speaking of turrets, I don't remember if you have already shown how to push settlers and brahmin out of the way by grabbing a turret in build mode and using its collision to move people. Can be very useful when somebody decides to take a break right where you want to build ;-)
@SkooledZone7 жыл бұрын
Been meaning to ask you about this. Does it only work with turrets?
@patrikhjorth32917 жыл бұрын
Skooled Zone I actually don't know. I have only tested it with turrets, mostly because I usually have at least one available when I need to push someone around. I can't think of what else would have the same effect, and I haven't had the patience to test it.
@esotericjay87017 жыл бұрын
So while currently IN build mode with a turret selected, you can push people and Brahmin out of the way? Without placing the turret near them so they move? You just select a turret and walk up to someone in your way and they will be pushed aside by the turret that you are currently holding? I have to try that.. I got so fed up with Brahmin in my way that I downloaded that push anyone mod, it lets you push people and animals in your way without angering, hurting or provoking them, but the turret way would be useful as well.
@patrikhjorth32917 жыл бұрын
Esoteric Jay Yes, that is exactly how it works. Again, I have no idea why that works with turrets and not, say, chairs or something. Also, you may want to look at the "Dogs not Brahmin" mod. It replaces all provisioner and wandering trader brahmin with guard dogs, but not the farm / settlement brahmin. Very convenient.
@esotericjay87017 жыл бұрын
Patrik Hjorth I've got the mod that changes the provisioners and traders pack Brahmin into eyebots(it's a better mod than the dog one in my opinion bc they are floating and never get in your way like animals on the ground).. but the normal Brahmin at settlements stay as Brahmin.

Oh, I love how you used the power pole for a support beam, I used them in a build over at the lighthouse that I did. It just seemed so appropriate for something they would really use. I used them for partial support of the rooms I built off of the side of the building. Your choice of the angled raider poles was also quite nice. I run into 'ghosts' using items all over the place, the weight bench from the vault tec DLC is another bad one.

I built a cool, wasteland themed tower, I'ma make a video on it soon, it's stairs and prefabs, but instead of walls, I use rails. First place a wall and place the roofing over, but then the when I remove the wall for the rails the roof is still floating. That's where the rug glitch comes in, to make raider spike poles at the supports fr the roof, and a little housing inside! It's really a middle of wasteland place to see it, and a house but at the same time, a hunting tower. :)
@kudos2u1696 жыл бұрын
I mean it looks like something that's far away from a settlement and in the middle of the woods, or wasteland, not in or close to the city, or in a settlement. Why a hunting tower/house when there's a huge settlement right next to you, so Ima use a mod to place it in the middle of nowhere. Can you maybe do a video on how to make it, and customize your own version? If you like it, when I make the video. Thanks Paul, your name just reminded me of Paul Walker, RIP.

Fantastic and creative as well. Can’t speak for others but I have a lot of fun watching these videos and learning techniques. Could you not just use a conduit at the bottom of the first tower or will it not sit on the ground? At one point it looked like your base has solid walls which would hide a generator or could sink a generator if needed. My water pump at Oberland Station has that ghost pumper as well. Only 1 of the 4 pumps though. The only problem with longer videos is trying to remember everything but with screen shots and replaying the video that’s no big deal.
@SkooledZone7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Learoy. Yeah, you could use a regular conduit on the ground but, because of the slope, it would've looked like it was floating. :)

Then the entire structure could be group selected to raise it to its max height. Would that work?

Better late than never, right? ;-) Anyway I discovered during this process that there seems to be an underground height limit just like there's an above ground height limit. Hey :) Those totems are not Raider, they are SuperMutant :) So I loaded a video up on my channel where I built a Heli-Turret at RedRocket. The fans keep synchronizing after a while. It always looks like there is only one fan rotating. Question: Do You know a workaround (or if You take a look at that video, what did I do wrong)?
@SkooledZone7 жыл бұрын
You're right, they're technically super-mutant totems, but they fit nicely into the whole grisly raider theme. ;) As for your fan rotation question, I haven't run into that problem. The one you see briefly at 9:04 was built like six months ago and hasn't desynchronized. But it's still an easy fix. Just select one fan and release it until they're spread apart again. :)

Hey there Skooled Zone , I've been playing Fallout 4 and I ran into a bit of a mess trying to use the electrical conduits to wire up a house . What I'm trying to do is to put 2 switches in the same area to control 2 different items independently from each other ( like a ceiling light and then a low powered wall light ) , thing is I don't even know if that's possible . I was wondering if you might have any tips for this ? Thanks
@SkooledZone7 жыл бұрын
Yup, it's possible. Just think of the switches as gateways. The electricity has to pass through the "gateway" before continuing on to the light. That way when you shut the gate, the light turns off. Hope that helps.
@MrBikerider845507 жыл бұрын
Ya I would have understood that , but while I was waiting for your reply I did a little experimenting with the mess I already had and figured that out myself lol . Thanks anyway for the reply tho . So I was gonna make an official video however as you can see its been like 2 weeks and I havent linked you to a video. after I actually completed the video I was like "wow holy shit this is way too much effort for a simple sentence" so anyway yeah. You can put turrets on steamer trunks, metal boxes and wooden crates however you gotta use the rug glitch, and I highly recommend that you place two metal boxes and two wooden crates next to each other since they are smaller than the area of the turret. But yeah, sorry for like the two week wait, Im lazy :( but at least you got another solution.
@SkooledZone7 жыл бұрын
No problem man. Thanks for the reply. You know I actually made an unlisted video for another thread about how I can't seem to rug glitch the wooden crates in my game. Check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWPJZGCanautkJo ...Don't know why that works on some systems but not others. Mods maybe?

I know i am commenting 3 years after this was made, but i recently found this channel. What i don't understand is, if he knows about the wifi glitch, why didn't he use that on the turrets that require power? Then you would have it completely wire free and no need for conduits anywhere.

Thanks for discovering my channel and welcome. So I didn't discover the wifi glitch until long after this video was published. Nowadays I would totally have some wifi'ed rocket turrets in there!

@@SkooledZone The video’s you posted were phenomenal. And i loved that you didn’t use mods. These videos have helped me “glitch” a lot of items into the correct position. THANK YOU! There were some issues where i was using mats to move counter tops into place but the counter would not be moved by the rug. I wanted to see if you had any solutions to that.

Thanks! And yeah, anything that snaps can't be rug glitched, even if it only snaps to itself.

Have you tried a stack of rubber Matt's for MG highchairs

Rubber mats work as well. But the haybale seemed like the perfect height at the time. ;-)

@@SkooledZone I was using the small stair and wood floor inside a guard post from another video but you sparked me into thinking of that. Stay thought provoking man I love your videos

FaZeDragon 173 what if you used the interval switches to make it flicker. You could do one letter or whole word. Would take a lot of switches and wires to get each letter flickering. Have to have no power to the wall as well or it would just stay on. The open sign also goes through a sequence as well if I am not mistaken.
