Can you build it for around $1,000? Yes you can!
Some of us are wondering what to spend our stimulus money on. We're here to show you that you can build a solid technical hunting apparel foundation for around $1,000. In this video, Kendall and Brad walk us through several different example kits to show you how to get the most out of your money!
These hunting apparel systems consist of a base-layer top, midweight top, jacket, pant, boots and socks.

I have a few of your blackovis merino pieces, 250 1/4 zip hoodie, 150 bottoms and 200 gloves. For the price it can't be beat in my opinion. Eyeing the keele and 150 long sleeve for my next purchase, great stuff👍

Great Information. What gear you buy kind of depends on if you archery hunt or rifle hunt.

Man, when Sitka first hit the market they had a pair of pants and a jacket that were about $250 a piece! I thought, there’s no f’n way I’d ever pay that. Ever. Now I’ve got a closet full of this stuff. As far as stimulus goes, everybody should buy a gun. The Black Ovis pants are very comfortable.

I felt the same way when first looking at Sitka "Who would pay $150 for a flippin' pair of pants!" You and me both brother. haha

This helps a bunch. I live in eastern Ohio which is a brier thicket from hell. I think I'm sold on the mountain pants.

Mountain pants are great but expect some threads to pull when going through briers. Any pant would as you already know I'm sure.

$1000 gear kit ain’t easy. I must have spent $10,000 in boots and clothes over last 20 years from Scent-Lok and Cabelas. About 5 years ago I spent about $3500 on Sitka gear And have not bought another stitch of clothing since. I have just about everything from the Whitetail line in Elevated 2. I am about to invest in some gear in the Sitka forest for early season and hunting on the ground.

ive had my eye on the jetstream jacket to start my sitka collection. One question I have though,... Its listed as a performance fit, but can you layer underneath it to stretch it into colder weather? I live in the midwest and the early winter season can get pretty cold. Additionally if you were to layer do you recommend getting a size up?
@BlackOvis
@BlackOvis 3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely layer with the sitka jetstream. We would not recommend sizing up to achieve this though. you should be able to wear a heavyweight performance hoody or a puffy jacket underneath and still be fine.

Personally I would size up on almost every Sitka top. I wear a medium in most shirts but all my Sitka tops I have needed at least a large, sometimes a large tall or XL depending on the piece.

@BlackOvis

They discontinued the active, but replaced it with the Ambient. The Aerolite is more of a static insulation, and the Ambient is an active insulation so they were designed to work together. Check out our new video on Sitka layering. John explains it very well. 👇 studio.kzbin.infoFu-naRjh95g/edit

How does the jetstream compare to the mountain jacket? I’m leaning towards the jetstream, even though I keep hearing it runs warmer. Right now I like the core light crew LS and flash pullover but being in Oregon I need something waterproof. Great video guys!
@BlackOvis
@BlackOvis 2 жыл бұрын
If you're wanted to stay dry then I would go with the Jetstream because it has a hood and the Mountain Jacket does not. The Jetstream also has pit zips which is super nice for venting.

On their bundles they either have the Jetstream or the Kelvin. But you are right, all 3 would be over a $1,000.

Lot of $ to get no gloves, rain gear, hats! Seriously I can understand the expense for the boots and really all of it but If someone’s just starting out would rather spend that $1000 and get them everything they’d need.
