You’re my new favourite KZbinr, I’m going to take part in this project, I think with the fact solar is so ,inch more efficient, the way this can be truly useful is as a more effective way to power solar powered fairy lights, the panels on them fail so quickly and are so small. I’m excited about this, I would be so wrapped if I could power some nice lights for my balcony area. As part of,the project, we could even print a battery housing to house some cells and a bms? Like a deep cell batter on a tiny scale, we could even incorporate usb so that it can be used to charge devices in an emergency!

very good idea! Love the modularity. You ask for sugestions, perhaps a way to use two plastic bottles. Disks you screw bottles into at slight angle, combine two bottles and cut out the wind pocket. I'm thinking the longest part is printing the surface,why not use something already printed and free.

A project update/ review of its output would be nice. How does this compare in efficiency vs a standard upright wt? I am not really into making one but love seeing people really embrace the 3d printing open source culture. Your design using very standard parts is amazing and really well thought out. Making a magnetic levitated vawt would be a amazing update for the community 👍.

Questions on gearing; once the VAWT is built and mounted with shaft and bearing casings, do you have printable Gear Part(s) that can perform various ratios and be connected to an existing electric generating motor? A printable Box with gears & shaft mountings would be really awesome as well, so the entire turbine structure could be printed (except bearings and shaft I guess). Is this already available? I'm late to the game, sorry if I'm repeating others' question(s). Also - is this scalable to make a larger one? And of course, thanks for your initiative.

Instead of ca glue you could make a connector at the top and bottom by dividing the edge of each blade in thirds and offset the middle top and offset the sides on the bottom. ( You possibly wouldn't need the pegs at the center)

I've built double and triple blade designs similar than this but with spiralize or vase mode that are 200 mm diameter by 200 mm that will just fit on my ender 3, a section only takes 5 hours to print, they are super light and quite strong, incorporate skater bearings and can fit on top of each other, they use 98g of pla at a time. I over extrude to cause the sides to fuse.

Ah, good YT algorithm! Presented your short, subbed, watched the full video. Always a bit into wind generators for my off-grid van-life thingy - but did not find anything that would make sense so far. Plus, being affordable. Rotors would be to big, mainly to carry around and install. And main thing, the energy gain would be too low, if your not right by the sea. A 3D printed version could be worth the try, and this is my suggestion: A wind generator, maybe of your kind or different, attached to the end corner of a van (roof railings) that can be mounted/dismounted easily and packed small. Maybe a clip/fold/stack.. eg system. What about something like that?

Had a idea. instead of just one wind catcher on each end have one on each section on the bottom so it would be more stable while printing and catch more wind. I don't know if this would work or not, just a thought. If it works out or not good luck. There is a guy out there who sells wind tuebine/ solar power systems because in his words solar only workes 10 hours a day while wind can work all day long if you are in the right location.

my thoughts are rather then making a wind generator. make a gravity generator with compound gears and maybe a flywheel. you make the gear ratios so the first gear that has a weight, will spin slowly for 12 to 24 hours. while last gear is spinning at say 1000-4000 rpm turning the generator.

Hey bro , I mean to bother you a bit . Apology . But can you try . Make a smaller ( mini ) turbine that is highly sensitive to wind . And turns vertically and horizontally to the exact direction . And the bigger turbine follows the smaller one's direction . I wanna know if this is worth doing at all . Also make a two way to one way gear , so if your vertical turbine rotates in the wrong direction .. it still generates power . I'm suggesting too much . It seems like too much to ask , sorry . But maybe worth considering ?

Ok so I have a very interesting idea. Why don’t you make a wind turbine that powers, a desk fan, but point the desk fan at the wind turbine so that the wind turbine sends power to the desk fan and the desk fan powers to the wind turbine, in theory, the wind turbine, and the fan should spin forever.
@dancruz7319
@dancruz7319 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately you lose power to inefficient power conversions. When the turbine generator turns and creates electricity it would lose some of the energy that was present in the wind from the fan. The fan itself also loses some energy from friction and potentially other vampire draws in its circuit. In the end the lost energy would cause the fan to stop. Not a bad idea in initial principle, but there is a lot more going on in a energy system, that can leech energy and cause perpetual motion to stop.
