Very cool! Maybe you could have it do 2 tests - firstly with a timed gap inbetween C1,C2,C3,C4, and then on the 2nd pass let it run through quickly as it did before when you spotted C1 causing problems with first 4 addresses of C2. Then you can work out if there's a chip with slow output when disabled and switching to the next chip? Great job! Would love to see this turn into a product - perhaps supporting other DRAM and SRAM types!

That is a good idea on a way to detect the problem automatically. There are a number of odd failure cases and it is hard to know ahead of time how to write code to diagnose them all. I think an open source 'tester' would be the way to go as that way folks can just use it as is or can write their own tests for different chips and share the testing code. I may get enthused about my general purpose 'Mega Tester' again and get it finished up.

Hey Birt - Thanks for the great project. I see some capacitors in your video, but none in the pdf schematic. (Getting errors in both Eagle and Kicad if I try to open the sch file.). Are these caps still part of the design?

The caps are just power supply filter caps as I recall. I think I used Eagle 9.5~9.6 when creating the schematic. There is also a PDF of the schematic in the same folder.

Hey Birt #2 - I'm trying to adapt this for use with a 6116 ram module. From what I can tell, the 6116 is the same as one of the 4 internal modules on the TRS80 chip. If I'm understanding this right, I'd just leave off pins 13-16 on the RAM side and then just test "C4". I do this and get a passing test, but I also get a pass with no ram connected at all. If I misalign the ram, I then get a fail for C4. I'm suspicious though of the pass with no ram at all connected. Does this sound like I'm doing a valid test here? thanks!
