New Guy Note: if you try and bind the O3 Air Unit while powering it via the USB C port, the O3 Air Unit will not go into binding mode. If you try and bind the O3 Air Unit while powering it through the power input from the Flight Controller/ESC, the O3 Air Unit WILL go into binding mode and bind quickly to the goggles.

I bought this kit. My review: We need a camera mount adapter for that frame that removes the prop view and jello effect. If this build is really geared towards beginners, it makes sense to enable it to fly without a GoPro.

It can fly without a GoPro. It will have props in view and not be able to use DJI EIS. If those are essential features, this kit may not be for you. But for a lot of people they're not essential.

thx for all the effort and work to do three different vtx thingies after another 😂 … this makes me want to get back into FPV since my drones sadly are rotting in the basement for years 🥲🫣 when i kinda stopped trying to get them to fly there wasnt even anything existant from DJI for freestyle fpv drones 😂 it was the fatshark HD3 time.. ^^

I was going to ask you if the 03 air unit will work with Goggles 3. I looked at Get FPV and under their Goggles 3 is a note that Goggles 3 are backwards compatible with 03 air unit as long as you get the latest firmware. Yea! Thank you for the great videos, instructions and advise. It helps to watch through the video before working the drone. I had not taped down my motor wires so it was much easier to run the camera wire under the stack without removing any arms.

I had the same issue with the o3 wire, the faster way was to remove the O3 camera cable from the unit and drag under the Esc.

As always, fantastic video! This may have been mentioned in the comments below, but I did notice on another FC (Tmotor 20x20) that the "HD" plug was reversed as to what the DJI 03 pinout was. Thankfully I noticed this and had to manually switch all the little connectors.

The o3 can take down to 7 volts. You could make a video showing the voltage/range relation. Unless im wrong. I know im about go work 12 hours.

Undecided whether to go with walksnail or dji o3. The whole reason I wanted to build a drone is because of the upcoming possible dji ban. I wonder if I use my dji fpv goggles v2 I already own will I have to use all the dji software on the phone like I have to do with my dji fpv?

I bought the kit with the 03 setup and controller 2 I did exactly what you did in this video, and you said you could go fly and no matter what buttons I push on the controller it does not arm it. Am I missing something

In the hope that someone sees this comment, I am using these videos to help me set up my first build. However, I have the DJI Goggles v1 with a Vista running WTFOS. Do I need to do that extra step with the CLI commands about the canvas width and height on that VTx, or is that specific to the O3 setup? Thanks!

What’s going on sir, just finished building my 7” Rekon. I ran into an issue tho. My motors will not go the direction I wants them to on Beta flight. I’ve even tried using the wizard, and manually tried to change it. When I tap on the motor that I need to change direction, it just pauses for a sec and continues rotating, just not the direction I need it to. I just watch your entire season on understanding beta flight. Any advice for me. And by the way great work on explaining FPV to people like me. Your the Mr. Wonderful on Shark Tank for FPV lol.

If I use the 03 Air unit in a emergency scenario in a no fly zone would it physically restrict the quad from arming?

No. The O3 does not support any such restriction when used in a self-built (DIY) drone.

2:00 Dji o3 airunit has a fragile body. when dropped, the part with which you attach it to the video is pressed in and hits right on the processor, which cracks and fails. now most users turn the DJI o3 airunit upside down. then the main problem goes away.

first of all thanks for all of the videos I owe a great deal of my knowledge of drones mostly to you! secondly, I ran into a problem in this video. everything was going to plan until I tried to activate the 03 air unit, it wont even show up in the dji assistant 2 app (consumer series), but it does show up on my pc as external storage. I tried different usb-c cables, i tried it with a battery plugged in, I even tried the "FPV series" app. any idea on what to do? thanks again!

what did i buy the wrong kit? my air unit harness has the 6 pin 1mm plug on one side and some weird one with extra unused pins on the other side. i had to cut and solder an old harness end on it to make it useable.

Great video in great series now I understand more about live video transmission on a quadcopter. And I hate to ask you but is it possible to mount a camera and transmitter board on any drone powered up and have fpv??? The reason I ask is because I have so much latency with my current drone that I can't fly fpv.

Thanks for the video. I'm having some issues, as im using crossfire, and for this flight controller both crossfire and DJI use the same UART (UART3), so when I load the preset I lose crossfire control. Can I use a separate UART for Crossfire so that I can have both working? Thanks

Yes absolutely. You need to put Crossfire on UART 4 and DJI on UART 3.

O3 does not have adjustable transmission power. Neither does Vista when used with g2 or Integra.

Depends on which mode you're in. In O3 mode the ham unlock is the same as g2.

The goggles can be switched between DJI Digital FPV System mode (for Vista and older air unit), O3 mode, Avata mode, and DJI FPV Drone mode.

I am not sure what JB is using, but I am using the updated Dji goggle 2/Integra "Soft" foam. It made my goggles 2 fit as good as my Original V1/V2 goggles. I was running the Pyrodrone Comfy foam on my goggles 2 before the Dji foam, and it was really good too. Worst: Stock goggles 2 foam. Better: Pyrodrone Comfy Foam for Goggles 2. Best: Dji soft foam plate for goggles 2.

Ive tried flashing the esc, the caddx vista air unit lite, and the goggles v2. Ive tried messing with the setting in the goggles, in betaflight. I messed around with the uarts and that helped other people but did not change anything for me. Though i dont understand uarts very well. Sorry.

You can print one off if you want, but it's not really necessary.

Personally I prefer running the O3 unit hard mounted to the frame. Since this frame has the holes for it, you don't need any additional parts. You can either run the wires out the bottom under the back plate and back up inside, or you can run them over the top of the air unit. My preference is under the plate, just throw some loom tape over the wires to protect them and you're good to go. I've actually been running my RX under there on other QAV-S frames and have yet to have anything damaged actually, it would take a remarkably precise impact to hit anything in that spot.

FYI There is an issue with 10v BEC on the stax V2 flight controller. My video cut out during a hard landing and I traced the issue to the flight controller BEC having 0v and no longer powering the DJI o3 air unit. I emailed support and they wrote that apparently they are discovering that the BEC on the controller cannot handle the power needs of the o3 air unit. They suggested that i run power directly from VBat. If anyone is having issues, I hope that this helps.

The menus change depending what mode your goggles are in. I run DJI 03 AU, for VX/TX/RX. Coming from DJI FPV, Avata, and Air 2s. Previously built an Align M690L, but never had faith in it in the air. Went to DJI for work, but custom quadz for race and fun. JB, if somehow someway you read this, Betaflight 4.4 us all into binding DJI and GPS M10Q! We may not be worthy, but we sure try, your excellency!!
