Cool idea to discuss tbh, it's interesting how big that 'lean engine' has to be in different clans as you mentioned with GN or GP, but with DP, arguably it would legit just be 4 Laurel since your best wincon is slapping with X-Gallop a bunch of times at 80k+ with a crit on top, so if anything it allows for a lot of creativity Although sadly DP's card pool isn't as generically amazing as other clans to experiment with that LOL

Love the reference to yugioh, which is my main game. Im still pretty new to Vanguard and ive been taking experiences and deck build theories from yugioh and relate them to this game and ive always wondered about engeins

This makes me think of a concept from a card game I used to play that we called "The Rule of 6." Essentially, you picked the 6 things you wanted your deck to do, and got 6 cards that could accomplish that goal for you. At the end, you had 36 cards, throw in 4 more for techs or to reinforce your strategies and you were golden. Obviously this would need to be adapted considerably for VG since deck building is, to an extent, predetermined and you can only have EXACTLY 50 cards.

Speaking of engines it would be really interesting if they brought back Cray Elementals in Standard and they can work like generic engines in different clans. Like for example, CE has skill similar to SP retire one of your rear to get an effect but you can use that in a different clan cuz its a CE. Idk, could be interesting for a discussion topic.

I like the video, it should help me a lot as I often just build what most people call "bog standard decks". They function well and do well at my locals almost always netting me at least a bronze but something else I wanted to ask: Can we get a Vermillion or Drill playmat? I love Narukami as it was my first clan getting into the game and Eradicator, Gauntlet Buster Dragon was my favorite unit starting back just before Stride Gate and I've used Eradicators all the way in my shop until Standard came about. I understand we should focus on the now so maybe print a Dragonic Kaiser Vermillion Playmat or Detonix Drill Dragon Playmat? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The “lean” term is used in industry referring to the concept of uncluttered efficiency. Look at Toyota, where the idea began. Top tier builds will have this. Low tier builds will not. Notice I said “build”. This was done on purpose...

Spectral Dragon it is a good deck and gust blaster is great although the deck does still have issues with protect I got top 8 at regionals with shadows in the ott meta (i fought 4 ott)

Spectral Dragon thank you 🥰 if you build shadows competitively you will have trouble against protect, but its not unwinnable. Your biggest problem will be angles You also kinda auto win against most Accel decks

+Samier Nurhssien Absolutely not only win cons. Take mikesaburo+telescope rabbit. Those 2 can be pushed into any gn deck to get your ideal g3 ride much more consistently. They’re an engine of 2 cards, they’re not a win con. Same for the ygo yazi/mare mare example. They can make boards but they don’t define what board they’ll make.

not sure what lean engines do angels and aqua have in standard ? probably in angels it's their boss Zerachiel with that other grade 1 which swaps from hand to dmg ( used consistently for placing Zerachiel in dmg ) ? and then your metatron which heals ... and in aqua it's just .........

As far as I can tell, Algos and Tidal run the show in [standard] aqua force and Theo and Penguin back them up.

@@SnidMist that just means the deck ain't linear. It's more of an every piece needs to be there to run like a well oiled machine. Then there's the machine's mechanic/operator

I'm happy my lean engine I've been using in all my builds for long time is always great to get off and in mostly any situation, is the 2-3 card engine of alice and ginny with/without leslie, theres a few more nice pm lean engines I've been messing with also in builds

Yes absolutely! It's a lean engine that does its thing regardless of the rest of the build. It's how PM got top 8 in Australia. It had the alice engine and then ran hella techs to counter the NLK mirror.

Basically staples but for that specific clan.

Not at all. Tidal assault is a staple. Not a splashable engine that does its job regardless of what deck it is in. Mare Mare-Yazi aren't staples. Yet they're an extremely splashable engine that will do the specific job if the deck can make yazi. These kinds of terms should not be thrown together for the sake of ease.

Oh alright, so..let’s say for gold paladin in premium is that one starter 4 baumains, 1 Gareth and 1 ezel because the main thing is the superior ride, then I can add anything I want in the deck and still won’t interfere with the superior ride correct?

Exactly. Now, of course, it's probably more ideal to build around the superior ride right now BUT it could be that in the future, you may want to build differently and still have access to it. That's when it's useful to know this kinda stuff.

I would say they don’t have a lean engine for Standard yet, but for Premium I would say Cruising, Transit, and Heritage

Yeah it is quite interesting how in this game they have a good variety of finishers in almost every clan now.

It's not even finishers to be honest. Telescope Rabbit + Mikeseaburo together ensure you almost always get the correct g3 ride. That by itself is a lean engine that increases deck consistency without being a finisher or anything.

Hmm so in theory for like lets say premium blasters. By ofc running the floral paladin flogals, blaster blade, and larousse that becomes a lean engine. Then by texhing in randoms like blaster dark for an early twin drive play if it comes up that would considered what you were talking about. Just making sure i understand this right.

Yes, flogal+blade+larousse could be regarded as a lean engine. Everything else around it is whatever. Though it's not quite as potent without other factors (like force markers or multi drive checks etc..)

The only way to build is with your heart. Just because a Tournament deck worked for them doesnt mean it'll work for you
