Build Bike Vintage -LOOK KG 96 TEAM REPLICA (1990) -
In June 1989, Look launched its new 1990 range, including the new Look KG 96 frame. A research work by Bernard Hinault, director of brand development and with the help of Francesco Moser.
For this new generation frame, the ceramic fibers have reinforced the structure of braids and carbon and Kevlar beams. The compatibility of these of the 3 avant-garde materials, and the use of these two structures give it exceptional nervousness, rigidity and lightness. With these qualities the LOOK KG "TEAM REPLICA" has no competition.
Designed with revolutionary technology, this frame guarantees unmatched performance. The proof that the professional teams PDM, TOSHIBA, ONCE, THALMAN and the French and German teams used this table.
Anthracite gray aluminum fittings blend beautifully with the exposed carbon fibers of the tubes. Decorated with the Mondrian design, the four LOOK colors that give it that unmistakable style.

En Junio de 1989, Look lanzo su nueva gama de 1990, en la cual se encontraba el nuevo cuadro Look KG 96. Un trabajo de investigación de Bernard Hinault director en desarrollo de la marca y con ayuda de Francesco Moser.
Para este cuadro de nueva generación, las fibras cerámicas han reforzado la estructura trenzas y vigas de carbono y kevlar. La compatibilidad de estos de los 3 materiales de vanguardia, y el uso de estas dos estructuras le confieren un nerviosismo, rigidez y ligereza excepcionales. Con estas cualidades la LOOK KG “TEAM REPLICA” no tiene competencia.
Diseñado con tecnología revolucionaria, este marco garantiza un rendimiento incomparable. La prueba que los equipos profesionales PDM, TOSHIBA, ONCE, THALMAN y las selecciones francesas y alemanas utilizaban este cuadro.
Los accesorios de aluminio de gris antracita se mezclan maravillosamente con las fibras de carbono expuestas de los tubos. Decorado con el diseño Mondrian, los cuatro colores de LOOK que le dan ese estilo inconfundible.

Really enjoy watching you restoring the old classics. Seeing these bikes just triggers a flood of fond memories as a much younger man I actually considered purchasing some of these when new. I settled on a 1989 Schwinn Paramount ordered directly from the Waterford shop which I still ride today. Quality just never goes out of style.

If you use leather bar tape, wrap it from bottom to top and finish it with TESA fabric tape. This bike will look more vintage and be more perfect!

I like this bike build I have to point out that the chain is too long which is why the top jockey wheel is rubbing on it. You can hear it when you did your test then see it clearly later in your final shots. With thicker bar tape like this, it's better to wrap it from the bottom to the top so it's nicer to grip.

Hi friend!!! Thanks for your recommendations. You are absolutely right. For the first failure, yes, the chain was too long, but after the video I was able to get it right without having to cut the chain, since the Mavic derailleur allows you to adjust the pulley piece up or down and the handlebar tape. I have a KG96 from 1991... I have not ridden it for at least 15 years... My question, is the bike still “safe” to ride? I am concerned due to “galvanic corrosion” due to it being glued to aluminum “lugs”. Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi friend!!! Also on this bike were the corroded galvanized pipes and the yellowish varnish. decape and put paint back on the tubes and varnish on everything. Before that I checked that the tubes were well attached and in this case there was nothing unusual. so you can try to move them and see if they are well stuck, I think you will have no problem. Also tell you that galvanized pipes rust superficially, since when I removed the paint layer, they were perfect. I hope I have been helpful. Regards my friend ; )

Hi friend!!! Well that I know they do not give many problems, if it is not that the fittings come off. A friend of mine, his son wins regional races with a somewhat more modern painting than this one. So bad at all they do not go. Regards and thanks for your comment ; )

Hello Friend!!! Sorry you didn't like it, but in the magazine I have from 1989, it came out like this and I didn't want to spoil it with black tape. Everything in this life is not perfect, sorry if I disturb you ; )

@Miester MC For the time period of this bike, it was often common practice to wrap the bars starting near the stem and finishing by stuffing the last bit of tape into the open ends of the bar. LOTS of bikes were ridden MANY miles with this type of wrapping...it definitely lasted more than 5 minutes!

Other than their rims, Mavic was very poorly functioning equipment back in the 80's. Notorious for breaking down at the worst times in races!

All the reason I give you friend! Just for riding it I know, the brakes are the worst I've ever ridden, they have very bad springs. But I must say that the bicycle is beautiful. Greetings friend and thank you for your comment ; )

I always wondered about their sealed cartridge bottom bracket design. Were they better than a C-Record ball bearing ones????

@@ralphc1405 not better, definitely not as smooth. Maybe easier to maintain for a lazy rider but not smoother.
