One of those early UHF channel converter boxes for early TV's back in 1952. Looks neat making a tube guitar amp out of it. To drill holes with the proper spacing you can also use an automatic spring punch available at most hardware stores. Just a sweet and excellently designed amp build there Terry.

Thats really cool Terry and its a one of a kind amp and would build something like this instead of a kit any day ,Im going to join your Patreon soon because I have been watching your for about 4 years or so and really like what you do ,especially when you visit the Ham fests ,I keep a towel under my chin to catch all the drewel because we dont have them here in Frederickburg Va if we did I would be living outside in the shed probably lol

Great project. The trick will be finding the RCA cabinet for a reasonable price.
@d-labelectronics Жыл бұрын
Yes, back in the day I could find them for 10-25 dollars. Now they get about double that. But its still cheaper than making one!

Nice little jewel there Terry..Great build, and seems minimal component wise..But those transformers would break my bank..! Top video as usual..Ed..UK.😀

Yes, the transformers are pricey. You can substitute. e-mail me and I can send you a schematic

Hi, how did you set the bias since the power transf sec shows 480V?, 5F1 layouts over there shows it uses around 650V/700V high volt (hammond list). Did you set plate voltage decreasing the plate resistor?. My english isn't that good sorry, I'm a self-learnning guy and I'd like someday to build a 5F1 circuit. What a great videos you do, I have seem/downloaded many of them.

how come you didn't just use a switched pot, save on drilling the extra hole?
@andrefiset3569 Жыл бұрын
Why not give a try of a 5C1 with the 6SJ7, it sounds great and with a separate cabinet that metal pentode tube is less microphonic.
@jimbeaux4988 Жыл бұрын
That sounds great! If no tone control, how do you decide what the eq curve should be?
@d-labelectronics Жыл бұрын
Just build it like Fender did, Most use their guitar tone controls
