As someone who has followed you, and is 6 ft 4, I'm happy to know you're 6ft 2. These builds rarely work for taller folks when they are built for someone much smaller and yet the height of the person is rarely mentioned in a lot of other youtube videos. You made a great use of space despite being tall.

You've created an amazing vehicle Dan. I don't travel the world full time like you but I'm out in my Jeep probably twelve to twenty weeks a year and I love a comfortable and optimized experience. If I was going to build something and had the access to someone like Michael I'd build exactly that, It can go just about everywhere and still be comfortable. Truly impressive. Love how that turned out. Don’t put an extra panel in. Someone will need to hit restroom at night, they need to get out without waking the other up. Also, need to get down and make coffee or soup while the other is cuddled in bed. That is the last issue in that design, and well you just don’t have the space and it is what it is. Looking forward to your next destination.

Yes! This is an answer we all need. Very important question and a consideration of any overland build before the vehicle purchase. 😅

@@sharpsticksnz4112 I notice I haven't gotten an answer. I don't find it very likely that we'll EVER get a direct answer.
@sharpsticksnz41124 ай бұрын
@@VideosOffRoad normally I'd agree with you as some KZbinrs aren't entirely straight up. Dan on the other hand I think is very honest. Given time I think he'll provide that info. Let's not forget that a lot of heavy metal was cut away and replaced with light weight composite panels, designed by an ex nasa engineer... so I'd suspect he was thorough in his weight calculations.
@VideosOffRoad4 ай бұрын
@@sharpsticksnz4112 That's a fair point. I guess I'm just so used to SO many KZbinrs refusing to answer (or even acknowledge) that question, likely because they either don't want to know, or won't say (maybe are embarrased by how much overweight the rig is?) for some reason.
@sharpsticksnz41124 ай бұрын
@@VideosOffRoad I think often it's when the blunder puts them out of pocket. For example, imagine being ignorant to the importance of staying within the vehicle's GVMR as a KZbinr... you then invest 1-3 years and over $100k building what you think is the ultimate overland vehicle. Only to finally finish and viewers bring to your attention the possibility of the vehicle being overweight based on what they've seen. The viewers inform you of the legal ramifications of driving an overweight vehicle... i.e. insurance being void, possible criminal negligence charges if someone was to be killed due to your vehicle being overweight in a crash... now the KZbinr weighs their vehicle, if they're underweight no drama and it's likely due to savy planning... if they're overweight then they have too options, 1) come clean, post the weight and inform viewers and your insurance company that you're knowingly driving round an illegal vehicle. You could sell the vehicle but who is going to buy a vehicle that's illegal to operate on the roads for anything more than parts value?... option 2) Stick your head in the sand, pretend you never saw the weight on the scale, delete the videos you were making about it and drive the vehicle around anyway... this knowledge eating away at you, time to dream up a new lightweight build on a vehicle with suitable GVMR.

They make window covers that go on the outside wrapping around the cab windows to keep the heat/cold out and as someone who uses a class C all the time, let me tell you that little cover does so much more than the curtain could ever hope to. That being said I doubt they make an off the shelf one for a jeep so it'd be something you'd have to sew up yourself especially since it'd have to go under the snorkel and have a strap to hold the top or bottom together. The CO2 detector is all well and good but you need a carbon monoxide detector on the ceiling as well just in case as it's lighter than air and you guys are sleeping up there. better safe than sorry.
