Build in rammed earth - the CEES at the INRA within 2 min

The building of the European Conservatory of Soil Samples (CEES) is today an architectural reference in terms of eco-construction thanks to the choice made by INRA to build in rammed earth, a raw earth construction technique.

To build the European Conservatory of Soil Samples (CEES), the National Institute of Agronomic Research (INRA) chose raw earth because of its ability to meet the two essential conditions for the conservation of samples: thermal inertia and hygrometric regulation. The building was created using the rammed earth technique, which consists of compacting the raw earth in a formwork, layer by layer.
Now a contemporary architectural reference for eco-construction, the CEES represents the implementation of amàco's experiments with materials, and more broadly a concrete image of its project: to use the inherent qualities of natural materials to build in a sustainable manner.
