How to Make and Cook on an All Natural Rocket Stove with no drill and cook meat cabobs inside a primitive log oven Bushcraft campfire Fire Cooking. Making a Rocket Stove out of a single log typically requires a drill but not many of us carry a drill into the bush in this video We show how to make an all natural version with no drill required. We make out out of a cedar log and also a black ash hardwood log. We melt snow and make hot chocolate and also cook meat kabobs on a wood branch skewer inside the log. The kabob Idea I first saw on the channel Os Bushcraft and Survival

While camping at the lake I found a large hollow tree trunk about 8 feet long. I cut it into two lengths about 4 feet each. The base section was large enough to stand on top of the campfire ring. It burned for over 4 hours with a tall flame on top before it burned through the sides. The next night I burned the top section.

Most of our Cedar in Maine bigger then a fence post is hollow. I have taken Cedar with 3-6 foot diameter and 4-6 long and carried on my shoulder out of the bogs. Smaller Cedar is awesome for that kind of stove, but burns fast. Hard wood is much better but hard to find a hollow one over here. Great Demo. Love it, never really thought of doing a rocket stove with any wood we get from the forrest on a camp out in the past. Always cut to stove lengths and split. Next time me and the wife are out in the northern woods. Going to do this for experience Thank you
@TheRealTedBaird
@TheRealTedBaird 3 жыл бұрын
Nice! Ya its a fun project and i agree the hardwood lasts longer thsts why we used the Ash log to cook the kabob inside. The dry cedar made a better torch though so they both were pretty cool. 👍

@Mike Rogers Thanks a lot brother appreciate it. Id like to find a really tall hollow dry cedar like 5 feet section and see what kinda tourch you could get with that... probably pretty nuts...this style works better then having a hole in the side because the fire below really feeds it as it sucks air and its its better in ways then a swedish torch in that air cant get in the sides and u don't have to hold the split peices together.

That is super cool Ted and Heather. I've never seen that before. I was wondering how you can tell a tree might be hollow but I think you answered that - you would come across it when processing wood for your fire or that is sounds hollow when you tap on it.
