In this video I install the axle on the beach cart. I used galvanized pipe, it does have some rust from saltwater use this summer, other options such as aluminum may suit your needs better if this is a concern.

Its been a long long time that l heard a man whistle while working. Its a sound of contentment and security. Last person l heard whistle while working on a project was my dad. I wish l did that more than cuss, worry and complain. Great video. More people should try whistling while working, its a great stress reliever. God bless.

I would guess the whistling came back after I got out of the automotive industry haha, I don’t even notice I’m doing it. I really appreciate this kind comment, thank you!

Nice sand truck, I would weld a washer to the axle inside of the wheels to prevent them to touch the frame.

Hey thanks! No rubbing no worries the pvc section the axle rides in is just a little wider than frame. Thanks for checking it out!

Does the tire not have bearings to spin freely on the 3/4” axel not requiring the pvc? Great series. Watched all three videos.
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles 10 ай бұрын
Thanks!! The tires don’t have bearings I used the pvc under frame to make the axle easier to remove. Wheels do rotate easily without bearing though also. I actually think bearing would be a problem with the salt and sand unless sealed really well. Good luck!!

I’m looking at building one just like this. Picked up the cargo carrier today. I do have a question. Why did you decide to put the axle through the pvc vs u bolting it directly to frame? Is it so you can easily remove entire axle for transport/ storage?
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video! Yeah the axle needs to come out so it is out of the way when attached to the car hitch. Major shin hazard haha!

I appreciate your help, I'm on my way but I have questions. 1) what length are the 5/8 bolts? 2) the link you provided for the tires is no longer with a 1" diameter hole. If you could suggest a tire I am struggling to find a 1" diameter axle balloon tire. Thank you!
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles 14 күн бұрын
@@mgagnew are you referring to the bolts that hold the aluminum frame to the steel hitch frame? They are 2.5” x 5/16 bolts. You could make them longer and cut if needed. You also may want to file all exposed threads so the frame slides on a bit easier. I will try to update with a better link, thanks for letting me know!! Good luck!
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles 14 күн бұрын
@@mgagnew looks like the wheel axle diameter is .9”, that will work fine with a 3/4 axle shaft. That same link does have wheels that come with an axle and smaller size but the axle would be too short anyhow.

@@zekeshandles thank you , that is the wheel i bought the 0.9 diam axle, the steel conduit is available in 1/2" or 3/4" , the 3/4 OD is over 1" and the 1/2" OD is almost 1". what size conduit are you using? thanks
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles 8 күн бұрын
@@mgagnew I used galvanized 3/4 conduit for my build. It measures 7/8” OD. You may need to run to local hardware with a tape measure and see if they have anything with a thinner sidewall. I will try to find a wheel with a true 1” ID and update also. Thanks for the info.
@mgagnew
@mgagnew 31 минут бұрын
@@zekeshandles Yes, I have a roughly 7/8 or 0.88 conduit. but the wheel at 0.9 roughly will not accept the conduit. I have to look for another axel I guess. where did you get your wheels, maybe I can change the wheel?

I used 1/4 x 1 1/4” zinc lynch pins, they are holding up okay. I would probably go with stainless if done again. I just linked some stainless ones in the video description. Thanks for checking it out!

Tires are made for beach or sand. typically used for a hand pull kayak trailers from truck to water over sand. "ballon beach sand tire" is a good starting search for these tyres.

How long did your axle rod need to be for the tires to clear the sides of the carrier?
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles Жыл бұрын
I think the pvc was 24” total so it over hung the sides by half inch. The metal part of the axle I just put together and Estimated. I can measure in about a week if you need.

What size axel and conduit did you use?
@zekeshandles
@zekeshandles 6 ай бұрын
The outer is 1” pvc and the conduit is 3/4”. It just needs to spin freely in the wheel so you may need a different size depending on the wheel you get. My wheels were 1” axles. Thanks!
