You pointed out my biggest problem with the Axial Capra at 5:58. They do not provide the complete servo saver but make you buy the recommended servo. What I did is bought a Savox servo and then got a servo saver for it that I used. Kinda annoying that Axial did this and some people will be put off about it.
@TheRCNetwork5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I completely agree. Later, many of us found out that the Spektrum servo that is recommended is an Axial rebranded servo from the Yeti Jr, and Axial has a parts tree that will somewhat solve this. Simply adding that parts tree into the box would let other servos work easy. Hopefully Horizon/Axial figures this out.
@andrewmurphy87245 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCNetwork Looking online I found the parts tree at AMain Hobbies. The part number is AXI31009. But Amain has it on back order and on ebay it is part of the complete 2 speed transmission set. So the parts tree is available but at this moment its hard to get.

I have RC's I bought in the 80's that still run (Remember the Grass Hopper?) This video made me not want to buy the Capra until there’s a servo alternative. Why didn’t they just include the servo in the kit?
@TheRCNetwork5 жыл бұрын
Someone sourced a $7 part from Axial that would make it work on other servos (the spline adapter). This was never mentioned anywhere....even in the manual, which references a Spektrum model number.
@RCsRCCars5 жыл бұрын
Would you happen to know the part number? I know the Spektrum SX107 servo is only $15 but it’s just annoying why they don’t just include the servo or the adapter in the kit. Besides greed of course.

First, regarding the translation, yes, "capra" translates to "goat" (in quite a few languages - Basque, Catalan, Corsican, Galician, Haitian, Italian, Latin & Romanian) ...but there were two laanguages which 'threw me for a loop', so to speak. In Urdu, the word translates to "clothes", and in Bangla, it translates to "in clothes". Anyway, enough 'absurd trivia'. Before I continue, I have a question - What is the maximum length allowed for a motor (since not all 540 cans are the same length...and maybe, just maybe, there's enough room for a 550)? That having been said, Axial's "integration" into the Horizon Hobby family is quite pronounced. Axial 'claims' the Capra is a "completely new, from the ground up, vehicle", but this is NOT the truth (although, in regards to what the truth is, Axial's 'claim" is not a bad thing). For example, Axial part AXI232009 is, in reality, Losi part LOS232009 (notice the only difference in the part numbers is the 'AXI' vs 'LOS'). Another example would be AXI235014, which is actually TLR235014 (for those unfamiliar, TLR is the racing side of Losi, ie. Team Losi Racing, both of which are owned by Horizon Hobby). Another would be AXI237009, which is actually VTR237009 (Vaterra is another Horizon Hobby-owned company). If those reading this are starting to get the picture that Axial "created" a considerable portion of the Capra by utilizing parts already in existence from other Horizon Hobby-owned companies, you will have hit the nail "smack-dab in the middle of the head". Again, this is NOT a bad thing, as Losi/TLR is very-well known for producing incredibly high-quality parts & kits. Axial has already stated that many of the parts are made in the Losi factory, so we shouldn't be surprised that many of the Capra's parts are Losi/TLR parts. Heck, Traxxas has been doing this for years, and with great success. Regarding build tips, such as building & filling the shocks (I usually fill to 3/4 before working out air bubbles), there are countless videos on KZbin...quite a few of them from RCN. The manual is typical TLR, meaning it's well-written, well-illustrated, well-organized...and, with a few minor "errors" (such as an incorrect screw length being mentioned). I can say that, when I was looking to get a 1/10 2WD buggy, I narrowed down my choices to four possibilities, and, after comparing the build manuals, the Losi/TLR manual was, by far, the best. As such, with Axial now a fully-integrated part of the Horizon Hobby family, Axial's build manuals (from this point, forward) are also bound to be great. Lastly, regarding the DIG piece that's included with the SX107, it actually looks like a piece from another kit's servo-saver...although I can't figure out which kit is. Now, if only UPS would deliver my Capra. I just checked the tracking, and it shows (as of 5:43am this morning), "Loaded on Delivery Vehicle"...but not "Out For Delivery" :-(

a Horizon Hobby Product Developer was quoted as saying a 550 will not fit without modification - he included a pic and you could see that even a 540 is somewhat shoehorned in there - the motor ends up very close to the link mounts. BTW, this thing only weighs 4.0lbs w/out electronics, so a 550 isn't needed to make it flat scoot...
@robbryan30445 жыл бұрын
@@stratobungle Thank you for the info. I'm sure others considering (or having already ordered) the Capra will also appreciate the info. Anyway, I've already eliminated the idea of a 550. At this point, I'm just trying to decide between a ROC412, HH PP Standard, or HH PP Stubby. While you say even a 540 "comes close', that would depend on the 540, as not all 540s are the same length. For example, the ROC412 is 52.5mm, the Puller Pro is 53mm, and the PP stubby is 44mm. In comparison, a Hobbywing AXE is 48.8mm, and a CC Slate is 49.5mm. Between the shortest, and longest, that's a variance of 9mm (interestingly, the two HH motors are both the shortest, and the longest). When dealing with vehicles with a very small motor and/or ESC space, this is an excellent reason why manufacturers should provide "maximum sizing" info. If the ESC tray can only hold an ESC up to a certain length and/or width, they need to disclose this. Likewise, if only motors up to a certain length can be used, they need to disclose this.
@stratobungle5 жыл бұрын
@@robbryan3044 Jumpin' Jiminy Cricket...that was kinda long-winded. Yeah, I've seen many a subtle variation in can sizes. IIRC, the motor in the pic I am referring to was a Tekin ROC412. Personally, I think a CC Mamba Micro X Crawler Ed. and a Stubby PP 2700 would be the perfect combo for the little "cabrito"... But your personal pref. may vary. Enjoy!
@robbryan30445 жыл бұрын
@@stratobungle The Mamba Micro X would be good, except for two "problems". First, its BEC is only 2A, whereas the Mamba X has an 8A BEC. Second, if using a digital and/or high torque/speed servo, you need to install an external BEC. Honestly, I was starting to consider the micro X...but, them I thought about the vehicle weight. The Capra is 4lbs w/o tires or electronics. Once tires & electronics are factored in, it's now closer to 5-6lbs...possibility even 7lbs. If a person is only going to use the Capra for rock/trail crawling, then the micro X will serve perfectly well. Since I plan do do a bit of rock racing with mine, I'm not certain the micro X would work, thus I'm back to the "standard" X.
@stratobungle5 жыл бұрын
@@robbryan3044 HH SHV500 servo is the answer, no BEC required - tap into main LiPo for full 3S power - works great in my Bomber. BTW - it's awfully small to run in U4, and only time will tell as to how it holds up to impacts at speed with those plastic portal housings - new and improved TLR plastics or not. IMHO, the Capra is first and foremost a crawler - especially with its included dig function. However, that's just my opinion of course! Enjoy it, however you want to ;)
