That is one of the cool parts about the Build and Divers series. Because they are not actually in them, and because they don't need to worry about the logistics of completely rebuilding them from extreme damage, they get to have as much damage to the mobile suits as they want. This is part of the problem with Try. The protagonist uses a well-built gunpla but neither he nor his team are able to repair or maintain (it was built by someone far better at building than any of them). So most of the earlier matchs especially end up with just not having battles where it gets any real damage, and its not until far later that they eventually are able to start repairing it.
