On real tanks the cables go from the hull to the turret through a rotor and stator assembly which has one rotating side and a stationary side. This enables the turret to rotate without pulling cables apart or twisting cables. There are 364 cables and wires that go through the rotor and the same amount coming out of the stator in Challenger tanks. I can't remember how many there are in the Leopard 2. This is a really nice model Wayne. I bet you're going to have fun playing with it in the garden.

To be honest if the tank lurches when it fires it's recoil stabilisers aren't working correctly. It may rock a bit on its suspension but it shouldn't lurch.

OCD themed comment for Wayne: if you plan to open it again to switch the faulty main board remember to fix that LED on the little secondary board on the side of the tank (the one near the cogs threatening the integrity of those cables coming out of it), it should be bent a bit to stick out of the hole in the hull.

Quite a nice tank build. The only feature I'm not happy about is when the gun is fired the tank lurches forward instead of backward as a normal tank gun recoil should.

On board camera is in the turret sight next to the barrel infront of TC Hatch! Original Leo 2a6 has 82 track links just watch they don't do any damage being to tight to idler etc

Not seen the other comments but my only question is why did it move forward when you fired? Always thought tanks moved slightly backwards when firing because of recoil

He probably needs to check the wires but when you fire a tank's main gun it will recoil and move back just a little.

Hello Wayne. Suspect that the turret rotation issue was present in pack 99 stage 77 where you had a problem manually rotating the turret. The turret should have rotated easily in this stage as the turret rotation motor was still to be mounted later in stage 79. The camera unit with its own dedicated radio antenna was mounted in stage 73; you might want to ensure that this antenna is dropped below the metal part of the turret and deck as the metal would block the video signal. Turret rotation motor was installed in pack10 stage 79.

Meanwhile I got the camera working using a long press on the upper right button. Now the turret recoil mechanism locks up and skips gear teeth here. Going to contact support.

Is it normal that you do not do testing as you put in the components. It appears that you do your primary testing towards the end? Just learning the part works world here....i understand that you need the screen etc to test the camera. But would it make sense to put the remote in an earlier stage? Or is the companies strategy not to test until the end to prevent accidential breakage?

Hi Wayne just finished my tank can’t get headlights to work and the turret won’t turn done like you loosened screw still no action on closer look I’m not getting no power out the main control for headlights and turret ask for replacement hopefully that works 😊

Need help. Tank moves fine but the turret does not rotate, main gun will no go up and down, and camera does not work. So nothing to the turret is working. I took the top off, loosened the screws even more than I did and still nothing. I checked the connections and them seem all correct. Any suggestions? Which lead is the power lead to the turret? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wayne, turret does not work on mine either, but my camera does. And all motion works and smoke,but Wayne you never showed the headlights working, mine don't work on mine, Agora say they are looking into all this, turret seems to be a major problems with all the tanks. Do your headlights work? Thanks Wayne I hope Agora sort this issue out, I'm sure they will.
