I have had a capsule wardrobe since 2005. I find the key is knowing yourself & your personal style. That allows you to feel like you, be more creative with fewer pieces and feel put together....

That’s seriously some of the best advice 🙌 nothing worse than building a wardrobe around trends that don’t make you feel comfortable or confident.

In the early 80s I remember having skinny jeans, in fact I stitched up my pant legs to make them even skinnier. So, I think they will come back, although I only wear them now to wear with my knee high boots.

Same! We made our popular Levi's 501s into skinny jeans

Amazing!!! I love finding those types of deals. You really can’t beat 100% cashmere for that kinda price 🙌

Don’t pet the clothing! That gave me a flashback to a vintage commercial. Don’t squeeze the Charmin! I have totally stopped in my tracks for a thrift find based on running through a rack with mostly touch. And THAT is the best kind of score! Thanks for the awesome tips!

I touch everything!! I thrifted a pima cotton Lily Pulitzer blue and white striped top with a gold toned button keyhole closure for $5. It's is a classic and so soft. Also, I found a grandpa style grey and black color block cashmere cardigan with jewel buttons for $8. My Banana Republic lambs leather trench is my hero piece.

Thank you for this video !! I have definitely developed my capsule wardrobe based on my current lifestyle fabrics that feel comfortable to me I only except those into my wardrobe, soft cotton’s cashmere silk and neck lines that look flattering and do not choke me. It took a long time for me to figure out the exact silhouettes that looked the most flattering and felt the most comfortable and I do not care about trends anymore. I usually stick with black, white and gray with pops of blue or red silver tone, jewelry mixed with a bit of gold and usually a 90s minimalist vibe with a twist of romanticism and may be a little bit goth and streetwear edge It really depends on how I’m feeling but I pretty much do not care about what is trending or micro trending since it will change in point five seconds flat!! Love this video. Thank you for all your effort. Hope you’re doing well in your new home.🖤🖤

Good advice. And I agree with it mostly. I do, however, find that high-waisted slim (not the Rag and Bone low waisted skinny ones) are best for me. I have been buying them for years from LL Bean, and they are excellent quality. They aren't true 'skinnies,' but the leg is definitely tapered. And I will wear them forever.

Yessss! I couldn’t agree more with the slim fit. I love a good slim and straight leg. And as long as the spandex level isn’t super high I’m all for them. It’s when the rise and ankle start stretching out after 5 washes that I feel like it’s not the best choice. But not all denim does that. And LL Bean is definitely on my list for good quality. I might need to check them out if I ever come across them at the thrift 😊

That was a great video, love the guidelines and personal examples. I now (discreetly) touch clothing especially when it’s the sweater or tee shirt section, helps with the time factor. Found a Burberry tee just by the feel in a sea of grey tee shirts at Salvation Army

I like the look of a satin slip skirt with a chunky sweater on top. That would be a micro trend to me. Not sure how long it will last. Very helpful video!!!!

You and me both 😊 I wear that look almost weekly. Hoping it’s not a micro trend and here to stay 🤞🏻 it’s so elegant yet undone all at the same time

I like learning what the trends are, but not every trend suits every person, and it can become an obsession and pressure to keep up. When people where what they’re comfortable in and suits them, that’s automatically stylish. Like you said, focus on quality, and I always check the material composition. I’ll stick with skinny jeans, though - mine are good quality (lasted years so far!), and they suit my shape far better than high waisted and wide ones (I’m short, a little tubby, and have a short torso).

Your videos are so much fun to watch and you give awesome inspiration! Would you mind sharing some info? Is “ made in Hong Kong” an indication of a 80s- early 90’s garment? Ive thrifted a couple of Ralph Lauren pieces that have that on the tag. I’ve been finding mixed answers about it. Is there a a reliable source for this information? Thank you!! 😊
@lauravonv Жыл бұрын
I use the vintage fashion guild every so often. They have a catalogue of tags by decade. Might be worth looking to see if they have your tag listed with a date. Hope that helps ❤️

I think it is great that you have been able to downsize to a capsule wardrobe. I do agree with buying quality clothing. However, quality clothing can come from any brand if you understand materials and construction. Many of the so called fast fashion brands are actively working to make more sustainable clothing. As well, all brands that are known to be more sustainable always do and always will have goals to sell more this year than they did the previous year. I thing it is great to encourage thrifting, as giving clothes a 2nd life is the most sustainable option. I do disagree about skinny jeans. They actual were the evolution of the pencil pant. Stretch slim fit tapered pants. Im sure they will make their way back the same as wide leg high rise jeans have. Its always good to hear different perspectives. TY

I couldn’t agree more! The dress I have on in this video is H&M. I’m a big advocate for knowing what quality is and never pass on a good piece that’s from a mall brand ( I LOVE mall brands) And good point about the cigarette pants! I get so excited when I find those. Thanks for holding space for different opinions and style ❤️ that’s a big part of fashion and what makes it so fun

4:10 being born in the year 2000 all I knew were skinny jeans, until the boom of wide legs in 2020. I used to hate most jeans because most stores that sell women’s jeans came like that , my mom also bought be cowboy boot jeans in discount stores but amid 2015 they stopped making them. Now there’s more variety but in discount stores there are dozens of skinny jeans, it’s so wasteful.

I was a teenager in the 1970s. In high school, we wore very wide leg jeans - they've come back and now I can see how ridiculous we looked in them; I won't be wearing them again. They look good on very few people, mostly tall and thin. I prefer a more tapered jean, they are flattering to more people and frankly who wants all that extra fabric.

In searching for info on a capsule wardrobe, I happened upon your channel and so glad I did. I really enjoyed your presentation style very ❤ much and subscribed immediately. 😊 I love black and almost wear it exclusively. My accent scarves, as well as my summer dresses are typically a black background with bright floral prints that I can pair with a short sleeved cropped sweater, or longer flowing sweater coats. Les is certainly more when you choose pieces that can be used with almost anything else in the monochromatic look you’ve chosen. Thanks for all your great tips. I’m an avid thrift store shopper and love finding quality treasures that somebody else paid lots for, so I don’t have to.. 😊

In defense of skinny jeans, it’s so much less hassle to wear them with tall boots than it is to try and figure out how to get wide/straight legs tucked in and laying correctly 😂😂
