I know I'm a bit late to the party but I just received and started building my first pack. I had taken a look at your build series over the past year before ordering and I think it'll be invaluable for my own build, especially with sorting certain glaring inaccuracies. I know some people have been disappointed with the quality of the build and cancelled half way through but I still appreciate having the ability of owning a nearly 30", diecast, fully lighted, close enough to accurate model of the Enterprise-D. At least I won't have to paint, weather, place a thousands greeblies and add extra LED's+fibre optics(landing lights, docking bay doors and cockpit) to this one like I did with the Millennium Falcon. That was my first ever model and If I was able to finish that I think I'll be able to manage here. One thing I don't understand is why they included the saucer separation, it doesn't seem like there's an included way to display it as such and correct me if I'm wrong but you can't light the saucer whilst it's separated either? It just seems like it would add a point of structural weakness that could possibly cause saucer droop over time. If I was a cynical man I'd say that they added the feature just for the sake of saying they had another feature that most models don't without really thinking it through. I'll leave it as is but if it does cause problems I can see myself permanently screwing it into place.

Decided to do this one despite all the issues you and others had. I noticed that you connected the blue/red wire for B to left vent but my instructions indicate to use yellow/green of B. Then you connected yellow/green of B to front left where mine says to use yellow/green of A wire.

I am glad to be continuing this build, warts and all. however, I didn't get the corrected orange bussard part with issue 12 that people who were on that stage before fanhome took over got. so even though I wasnt going to paint anything, outside of blacking out some parts to fight light bleed, but now I think I may have to repaint those orange parts.

I just finished the stages had the same problem when I didn’t over tight.. couple of screws going round and round. I did use 1 cm that worked instead of ap..

I've received two shipments from the re-start from Fanhome, just finished Issue 15, finishing off the upper saucer and starting the lower side. Surprised the hell out of me when all the lights on the upper side lit up like they were supposed to! I'm doing the UV resin mod for the windows, looks MUCH better than the individual clear and black plastic windows.

I work in the aviation industry and our big problem is getting hard to get screws ( stripped out or nearly stripped) out of aircraft panels. We have a compound we use that's a bit on the expensive side. It can be used to install screws without stripping out the head of the screw, just put a little of this on the tip of your screwdriver and it creates an incredible grip no matter what type of screwdriver, even with the poor screwdriver that comes with this step. The paste is Clover compound Grade D - 180 grit. Been using it on my model build.

Seems like Fanhome replicated some issues that Eaglemoss had with their design, such as that grille on the topside of the command section, where there was a lit grille that doesn't exist on the ship (should be black like its opposing grille). I also see that in order to do an accurate build of the ship, you have to incorporate those mods from before, such as the clear dome over the bridge and using that defunct LED light from the grille to light it up. It's nice to see this model getting a redo, and I may have to re-subscribe to finish mine!

According to fanhome's site, it will have all the issues associated with the eaglemoss version as they buight up eaglemoss's inventory and reissuing it. Any manufacturing issues from the eaglemoss version are still present. Will still resubscribe to finish mine as well, but hopefully in the future we'll see fanhome revisit the model for a 2.0 version. I believe the off color problem on the nacelles will also exist. If my memory serves me right to that being a problem.

After getting about halfway through stage one I paused because I have 100% decided that I will be gluing plastic parts (windows and such). I just don't like how easy it is to push on the plastic pieces and make them move after they've been screwed in place.

Are you starting another "D"? I was able to pick-up, with Fanhome, where Eaglemoss left off. Helping Hands are an invaluable tool for working on small stuff. I get mine from Harbor Freight. These work great with my N-Scale trains (:160) 🙂

still trying to find a model kit that more closely resembles the 4t studio model (in particular the deflector dish area) as used in filming the later series of the TNG episodes and the odyssey battle in ds9 where you see it more clearly. I haven't found a single model kit that accurately reproduces this.

So glad to see you starting this build (AGAIN). Glad they finally came back. Are you building from new packs or is this the old packs deconstructed? I think I saw the magazine still said Hero Collector, so that begs the question did Fan Home make any adjustments or corrections to the build (we know there were some coloring mistakes before with the nav light on the engine and the EM field piece)? Still think the individual windows are a bit silly. Don’t know why they didn’t do solid acrylic pieces like we had seen on the neck previously and here in the bridge section. I know the goal is to show how to build it “as intended” but I know you had made some pretty good progress on making the UV resin windows, and that seemed somewhat easier then the time consuming window placement. Was there any thought of going back to that method? Do you plan on customizing again as you go (the copper grills, beacon light, escape pod detail stickers, etc)? Anywho, great to see some Enterprise D. I look forward to this build and glad I caught up on the old videos once you provided them to me! Keep up the great work Wayne!

Great video again!! Is this a complete do-over then? Not sure if I have mentioned this before during your old build is that I wish the windows were molded onto the reflector panel. After each saucer panel was completed and tested to determine if there is a light leak at the blackened windows. Still would put the individual escape hatches in as before. Are you still going to use Mike Lane’s accurate escape hatch transfers or vinyl stickers? Is the amber colored piece between the Bussard Collector and Warp Grilles the corrected piece? I am not sure what I should do with my Enterprise D build. The two battery compartments don’t work anymore, got a broken wire for the Nacelle and a cracked panel (original during the build and replacement). Think I may start over with it when I am either halfway or three quarters of the way through the BTTF DeLorean.

This is a dream build of mine, I grew up watching the series with my dad and would love to do this, however I am a perfectionist and the raised edge on the top of the saucer section where it meets the Stardrive section is stopping me from subscribing to the build. Any thoughts on this, other than me being extremely picky lol.

As far as the light leaks, I would say no that issue has not been fixed since Fanhome has not modified tje build in any way.

I see they didn't fix the vent that's not supposed to light up and they still have the wrong color of that band near the bussard collector which should be yellow not orange. I'm still curious how the saucer connects to the neck.

When Fanhome took over this build from EM, I am pretty sure nothing changed in the parts that had already been cast... as far as the front grill "orange" one I believe that in a future issue they send a replacement part that is yellow, i cant remember i ended up keeping the original copper one, but will probably have to get a replacement part for it later. Thnx Wayne for starting this up again, i remember in one of your live streams that you were still on the fence about starting this one again. It will be jice to finally see this one completed after 120 stages.

I just want to see one of these things completely built without modifications (which for more than $2,000 shouldn't need any mods) to see what it ends up looking like.

With mine, when it comes to the individual windows I used clear super glue for the clear windows and black super glue for the black windows, it cut out most of the light bleed

What's funny though is their website can detect that I'm from Canada, and goes so far as to ask me if I'd like to switch to the appropriate site for my country, despite it not being an option :p And of course I've been getting constant junkmail from them ever since to "complete" my order, since I was part way through signing up before discovering there was no option for Canada.
