The paint job is fantastic. Compared to the pre-built Polar Lights for $450, with an absurd paint job and no lighting, it is unbelievable. Put it this way, my wife says she loves it. She even posed for a picture with it... and she hates having her picture taken, so I know she's being sincere! It is an impressive piece. I encourage you to email Tomy and let them know what you think. We might get a D7 or a Refit/A out of them someday. The paint job and finish on my piece is just flawless. Like you would expect if you had a new car... minus the screw caps. 😊

Absolutely amazing ship there. Yes, the screw caps are an issue, but another nitpick I have is the view of the Bridge. It's supposed to be rotated 38°; It doesn't face directly front due to the fact that on the show, the turbolift door was off to Kirk's left (for visual reasons), but the actual turbolift shaft is centered in the dorsal.

Considering how close this kickstarter project came to being shelved , as Tomy kept lowering the threshold as to the minimum number of supporters and dollars required to make this happen, I guess we are lucky to have gotten even this. I was one of the supporters that even bought 2 just to see it get made. When we got the message from Tomy stating their ultimate inability to make all their marketing promises a reality , I must say I was very disappointed but in the end I have made peace with most of my disappointments. Really the only thing in the end that disappoints me is why couldn't the screw plugs of body of the Star drive hull have been on the port side instead of the starboard side? All of the rest of the screw plugs and seam lines don't bother me anymore because it looks so awesome powered up. I'm glad I didn't cancel my orders. I came soooo close but didn't. For $600 including taxes and shipping of a 40 pound box of a die cast piece of art, i think is a very fair price. I hope Tomy has learned from this experiment and will continue and make more Star Trek vessels. Though i think they will probably need to charge more to bring more of their intended promises to fruition, which I would gladly pay to see other ships made. 🖖 Peace and long life Tomy.

Great video. I ordered two and even after Tomy sent the refund/cancel email, I decided to keep my order. The screw hole in the engineering hull could have been taken care of by putting them on the bottom and have the go up through the center of the hull to scree into the top. It would have created a possible seam through the side center line, but the pennant on the side would detract your view from it. I would rather deal with a seam than the screw hole covers. The only other issue i have is the stand and shuttles. I may never display it with the saucer separated, and most videos I have seen people are displaying it without the support for the saucer. The shuttles are just plain bad. I am currently scouring the internet for a 1/350 shuttle stl file to print some on my 3D printer. I am hoping it is just a stud and glue holding the two "halves" together. I will take one and try to separate it either with a saw or pry it apart, sand down both sides and glue them back together. But we shall see. I haven't set it up yet because I need to make room. I have a Master Replicas and Polar Lights prebuilt 1/350's so I need to make room.

Hello, I wanted to leave a comment for Danoby2. I like that you put out a review, and maybe its because I', not really a intense Trekker anymore, but as an engineer, I have to say especially when it comes to ship building, the ones at sea have clunky stuff coming off them or riveted in place all the time, spot weld, etc. Your comment about the lack of escape pods is a good one, but even Elon Musk's ships don't have much in emergency designs as yet, but as those ships come of the line things will get better for actual space faring vessels. It does look a little clunky, but in comparison to what it will look like in the future, its probably very stream lined. lol Thank you again for posting, and although I have not put that kind of money in to that kind of thing, hearing that previous versions could cost more was a wow for me. Stay safe, and keep posting.

The screws and covers are there to access the electronics for future replacement etc. If you did what model makers did in the old days, you would use body putty to hide them, then use a small spray gun to remove the seem. It would mean some work and possible damage if you needed to access or replace the electronics in future, but a car body mechanic may be able to do a better repair job as the model is metal!

I love the remix song you are playing at the later half.

I found the shuttle bay door cover the exact same way. But I was wearing socks so luclily no damage. Was not held in the styrofoam real well.

I noticed that the bridge has the captain's chair aligned with the forward axis. This isn't the case as the turbo lift is just to the side, off axis thus the captain's chair should not be aligned with the ship's axis.

I like it that way. You can see the red turbolift doors inside the bridge.

I’ll keep the playmates and save the money. I’m happy with the phaser and communicator that I luckily bought new , now are through the roof

Playmates has lost their way. Quality isn't there anymore. Real sad.
