Personally I collected mech minis as a lore fan for years before I actually started playing but when I finally decided to make recognizable armies instead of 200 mechs with unique paint I went with this method. First goal is making lances of about 145-150 PV (star of about 200) similar to your suggestion. This specific PV range forces you to get creative with your mech selections. You can run an atlas but with only maybe 3 lights, or 1 heavy and 2 mediums and a light, etc. But I try to split most lances in 2 sets, an advance unit and a rear unit. The rear can be one mech or 2, typically a slower mech(s) with a good deal of armor and firepower like an assaults or heavies. The advance unit is fast moving flankers who can cover ground and make it difficult for the opponent to focus on the rear. Most lights and some mediums work well here. Medium Mech tend to be somewhere between these two categories but often lean one way or the other. I usually split mediums by speed, under 10" its more of an rear unit, 10" or faster I make it an advance unit. The thing is if you build enough lances for a force with this general concept , usually a company is enough, and with a good variety of mechs, you will have a really well rounded collection to mix and match from to specialize for specific scenarios. Alternatively if you keep the lances in their original groups they work well as general purpose lances that can adapt to a variety of situations.

Implementing some optional rules such as Formations, SCAs, SPAs, etc. surprisingly makes the game more fair. :) And of course, more fun!

Very true! We thought about adding formations, but that's actually a very big topic on it's own once you really dive in and maybe we will make that into it's own video. We wanted to not make this one too big as to keep it useful for complete newcomers asking the typical beginner question: "how do I start with creating an army?"
