Ahhh a nice video, I really like the idea of selfcontaining things. As for a suggestion for something, lets write fun, to make. Up in the mountains, make a channel down in through your city with canals, and then dump the sewage up there, and on the sloping down, have those round water cleaning things ( cant remember the name of them) clean up the water as it flows down, and then you have clean water going through your city, and increasing land value alongside the canal where your former poowater is flowing. Could also make a poodam to create power from your poo, before it going down in to the canals 😁

@@OVERCHARGEDEGG I'm thinking of trying a vanilla city, haven't done one without mods since I started playing. I was awful at it then. I do rely on traffic manager a lot, and now that I've learned move it and the others, it would be very interesting to see if I could build a good looking city without any mods. Hmmmm, I'll have to give that a good think!

Looks great Egg. Except, of course, for the poo water, but that'll be gone soon thankfully. I'm not much of a fan of the fishing industry, but you even make that look good. It seems that a great side benefit of your slow and steady aesthetic building style, apart from the beauty of it, is that the money can build up while you're decorating and you rarely have money issues even early in the build.

Can I add one more suggestion? Maybe try lower the coastline as low as possible especially if you planning to add quays in there. Quays in this game tend to make the elevation slightly higher than we expect, resulting ships-related assets have a quite a distance to its ships.

Oops - added this comment to the wrong video (I'm a noob at commenting on KZbin videos as well), so I copied it and reposted it here where it would make more sense. Hi Egg - I'm really enjoying this guide as I'm trying to finally get past the multiple restarts that have plagued my past city attempts - I've gone back and watched each episode multiple times. Just a comment that for some reason, this episode shows up as #9 in the playlist (right after the Green Cities Respecting the Topography episode) and the campus build didn't even show up - I just found it when I got confused by the comments at the start of the episode and went looking for it separately (which is actually OK because I have 2 episodes to watch now - what a treat).

It would have been nice if the whole fishing industry had the same functions that the other industries form the DLC has, as it is, those of us that lives close to a fishing village or have been to one a lot, the current way of doing it lacks much of what could be done. Hopefully they will attend to this in a future update or DLC.

Yeah! The 20 foot drop into ferries and boats is annoying af lol! Hopefully something to fix that in CS2 :)

You can bring the terrain closer to the water, then add the quay, then add the dock or pier assets. Just one or two terrain lines above. That'll look more realistic and is more true to life if you think about it.

I love how the DLCs are slowly introduced with all the explanation. Great little harbor that can still be expanded or neighboured, maybe with a cargo port or a cruise port? Off question: I know the DLC is called Sunset Harbor (US spelling - also used in your title, makes sense due to the DLC), but wouldn't the British spelling be: harbour?

It's a somehow sad that you can't change the road of the assets (Fish industries example). I would like to change them in to one way roads. But I think the only way is to use workshop assets, but then you have a second one of everything. Or is there another way?

I can’t play vanilla rather not play the game. I really want to play but this is just devastating. I have 64GB of ram. My latest save just forever saves now i cant save the game.

Given the dimensions of the waste transfer facilities and waste processing complexes they are a really bad alternative to recycling or incinerators. The problem is the transfer facilities have such little storage capacity that they pretty much instantly fill up and then they just stop collecting. so relying on those two will not work for bigger cities. In theory they are great hardly polluting at all you might get the idea of them being ideal to collect garbage in densly populated areas and then have a central processing area in the industrial zone. issue is the waste processingcomplexes are becoming way to lazy to care about the facilities the further they are away. so nope centralized processing somewhere on the side won't work even without any traffic issues at all they just are not greedy enough which causes abandonment. replacing a wastetransfer facility with 2 recycling centers (which are still smaller in size) and it is running again like a breeze... so yeah it's a great concept but lousy implementation. You could have double the processing capacity available than required but half of your city still does not have garbage collection because the complexes just don't bother had to revert the switch in my last ep
@OVERCHARGEDEGG2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I've built two full vanilla cities to 90k pop and always used the Sunset Harbor processing assets over the vanilla ones and have never had garbage pileups with them. I would assume more orbital transfer facilities would help with that 🤔
@michaelw62222 жыл бұрын
Yeah, these are tricky. I haven't tried them yet, so I can't speak as to how they function in-game. But I have avoided them solely due to the maintenance cost of the Waste Processing Complex. 5,400/week seems pretty steep even if you factor in the power production of 40 MW. A decent average for power cost is about 10 per MW, so it is saving you 400/week in power costs. But that is still 5,000/week. The unknown factor here is the "produced goods". A lot of the numbers involved seem unbalanced. One WPC can process the same amount as about 8 RC, yet has a maintenance cost of 5,000 vs 1,920 for the 8 RCs.... and it doesn't even pick up the garbage from the city. You still need the Waste Transfer Facilities on top of that. I think the balance issue between RCs vs WTFs has to do with the number of trucks, rather than storage capacity. RCs process garbage at 24,000/week with 15 trucks. WTFs can hold more than ten times that at 250,000 but only have 5 more trucks. Based on those numbers, they should cover 10 times the area of a RC, but are expected to do that with only 5 more trucks. That could be a problem. All that being said, if your budget can handle it and your waste doesn't pile up, they are cool assets to integrate into your city for the aesthetic value if nothing else.
@Drakkart2 жыл бұрын
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG i did some research and it seems to be a common problem with the sunset harbor garbage collection. the further you orbit the more problematic it becomes and to make the thing really work you do not want to orbit the processing complexes too... because if so you are better off with recycling centerss. so i really wonder what either you did enourmously well or i did wrong. was the sunset harbor garbage the only garbage in your cities or did you mix it with green cities in those 90k pop cities?
@Drakkart2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelw6222 hehe yes they have 5 more trucks but it seems those have a lower capacity than those of the RCs or INC's what i noticed is it also just needs those 20 trucks to fill a WTF up entirely which is really strange. well on the other hand a truck sent out by the RC also needs about 10 minutes to return so. if no garbage collector truck from the WPC empties the WTF's then those just stop sending trucks out and there is the problem.
@cukka992 жыл бұрын
I've also built cities of up to 100K or so with just waste processing and transfer facilities and it worked fine for me. I went to two processing facilities when the processing rate fell below my needs (didn't try increasing the budget to see what would happen). I wonder if difficulties might arise if traffic isn't wholly efficient though? I mean, if the transfer trucks from the processing center take too long to empty the transfer facilities? On the other hand, the ultimate recycling center never did anything for me. I tried it a couple of times, thinking its capacity of 100 trucks should be plenty. But it would send out only a handful of trucks, maybe 10 at most, while most of the city was awash in uncollected garbage.
