I built a few shafts of my own and an old timer actually told me to drill a hole and pour in about a half bottle of power steering fluid then weld up the hole. It worked. Zero vibration up to 70 mph.

I totally forgot about this, thanks for the tip. I will do this before I take it in to get balanced. 👍🏻

Was gonna comment the same thing. It works like a charm

I was going to suggest a tube of grease shoved to the middle before welding the ends on...

Wow that’s a really good idea

You could try the quart of ATF inside the tube to dynamic balance itself as it spins....? I plan to do this to my driveshafts when i do my transfer case swap.

As you found out D.OM. isn't very straight or true.Thats prob why they have specific material listed for driveline tubing but if it works it works.haha

Watching all you build videos got my wheels turning now I have a 97 gmc in my driveway that’s going to get super duty axles going with wfo radius arm kit and coils. Doing like and overland, camping crawler build. your S-10 build definitely inspired me, I’m gonna blame you for all the money spent from here on out when the wife complains lol. Jokes aside I live on the Northern California coast hopefully some day I’ll run into you and Nate you guys have cool channels.

With a driveshaft that long. The tube will actually whip at speed. Think of a jump rope going around. This is why OEM uses big diameter tubing. It helps minimize this.

The .250 wall would be pretty hard to whip...

Me personally I’d just shell out the extra cash for a professional one from a company like adams who specializes in them. Not that you didn’t do a good job with what you’ve got, but it’s a lot of work and being very very specific with measurements and such. But still cool video!

Thats about as good as you can get it in the shop, well done. hopefully the balance works out. If not you can be like the toyota guys and have a street driveshaft and a trail driveshaft😂

Did you ever get this balanced? What was the outcome?

Is there an advantage to putting the slip yoke at the axle end verse the transfer case end of the driveshaft?
@Makswerks1 Жыл бұрын
Since the axle moves, you want the "slidey" end at the differential so there isn't weird binding and leverage.

It's so the part that's lowest near all the rocks is smaller.... that's it.
