It's great that they tried to show some expanded use cases for the device but I was interested in the very basic architecture and wish they would have focused more on that. Ie. maybe prime the audience on its original use case, then how it worked, and then dive into expanded use cases. Just an idea.

Minor nit to pick: Altair BASIC was an interpreter not a compiler.

So this video is about doing something that has already been done (and perhaps better) by Mike Douglas with his "Altair Clone", and treating it as if it is mind-blowing "this is wild stuff!" new territory. This video mentions starting with a software emulation of the 8080 CPU (yes, this is necessary for an accurate overall emulation, and it has already been done years ago with the Altair Clone), then tangents off to operating systems, without noting that before doing THAT, one must also write a very accurate hardware emulation of the Altair 8800 computer itself, and also its I/O cards, disk drives, etc; which has also been done already.

Or the AltairDuino by Chris Davis and Dave Hansel which includes CP/M, games and multiple disk images.

you should use switches that double as LED, for a more compact build

Absolutely love this, but what trousers are you wearing where that board fits in a pocket?! Maybe some equally vintage 90s JNCO jeans😂

Using a MSX TShirt would be more appropriate.😁

I never had an MSX, I grew up with the Spectrum. First the 48k with rubber keys, then a 128k +2 (built in tape deck FTW!)
