This tutorial is easy to understand. I love so much the way you explain. Thanks a lot Guy. God Bless You Always. 🙏

I think you should feel very comfortable talking about and teaching piano technique. Your technique looks very healthy and your hands look great: fingers, hands, forearms all unified and working together in a co-ordinated way.

This is a truly magnificent piano lesson and I'm inspired to try out all of the ideas which you outlined. One thing that struck me near the beginning was when you said that you spend around half an hour doing these exercises BEFORE you practise! How long do you spend practicing and how do you define practice as opposed to working on exercises? Great video and thanks for the pdf too.

Hi Gerry. Right now, I spend 90 minutes to 2 hours a day practicing. I warm up with exercises like these or workout some harmonic vocabulary thru all 12 keys for about 30 minutes. I use this time to get my hands quiet on the instrument and to focus in on good tone and time. Then I spent the rest of my time playing classical piano and learning tunes. When I was younger, I used to spend (between practicing and playing Broadway shows at night) sometimes 6-7 hours daily with my hands on a keyboard...Thanks for watching..

@@PeteCalandra Hey, thanks for the reply, Pete. I'll need to get back to doing some more technical exercises. Recently, all I've been doing is learning new tunes and increasing repertoire but I can feel a lot of areas where I need to tighten up and get back to basics. Your words are very encouraging. I appreciate it.

Have you seen the “Reflective Studies” by Perischetti? I use them with my students.

Thanks. Reminds me of the oscar beringer daily techniques. Any advice on fingering triad pairs? Like a C/D pair alternating up/down (ceg,af#d,egc,daf#, etc)
@PeteCalandra4 жыл бұрын
Hi Taylor Thanks for writing. Those alternating triads are always tricky. It depends on where the black key comes in and how to place the thumb. I sometimes use 1-2-4, 5-3-2.
