If you had no access to soil testing Jeremy, how and what would you do to re-amend? This could be a precursor question to amending with a soil test...even though an episode has been done on this.

I use the Ecowitt. I water between 15-25%. When I water it goes up to around 45-50%. So I figure that is about right. When the soil is saturated it is around 50% water and 50% soil. I agree with the purple strains. I so far Red Strawberry Banana is one of my favorite.

As far as a "head to head" soil battle.. That would be hard if you used seeds as they vary, maybe clones.. I'd like to see you battle using the same BAS soil, growstyle, and seeds/clones but do the battle of POT SIZE. Rate the flower as you do post harvest, judging the run from 5 gal pots up to 30 gal pots. It would be interesting to see if flavor, and THC were the same, then show the difference in yield for the same time period and space.

Hi Jeremy, thank you so much for answering my question regarding the high temps we were seeing here in Australia during drying. My Missus and I freaked out when you actually replied. The harvest ended up great after 17 days of drying but we did find 1 plant had seeded up, possibly due to high temp or drying out between watering being the only plant in a slightly larger pot.. not 100% sure. Anyhow, the last season was great, and I'm glad your wife is doing well after her surgery. Is there any chance you would do a coco grow comparison.. say with canna A and B during veg and add a simple bloom product during flower? This is how many of us grow and I'd like you to convince us that the build a soil way is superior. Love your content and can't wait till laws change here to allow us all to share.

Talking about high THC vs strains with high CDB (as well)... I've grown and smoked the following strains (through several seasons, hydro and organic): Gorilla Glue (28% THC), Crescendo (32% THC), Blow Dream (Victory Seeds 24% THC, 4% CBD), Marley's Bud (2X% THC), Blueberry, Royal Highness (Royal Queen seeds, 14% THC, 14% CBD). My most favorite strain is Royal Highness, and it has the least THC and the most CBD of the lot. Second favorite is Blow Dream, which has quite high THC, but second most CBD. Also found that Royal Highness is my most favorite strain ever. Food for thought.

horses for courses. I used to love THC, the stronger the better, in what seems like a long time ago. Now CBD helps me a lot, as an aged toker with PTSD and corresponding symptoms. Pure THC varieties make me trigger easier, whereas 50:50 CBD varieties between 7-10% with a slight leaning toward indica help me sleep, fight chronic back pain, relax at the end of the day, and in general stay clear and stable in stressful situations. None are made alike, given spectrums of other cannabinoids, so trying out which one does you best is a good idea. And yes, the flavour of CBD varieties tends to be not as pungent, not as sweet, with more herby bitter notes. Purely medicinal.

I think it would be worth two sets of soil comparison testing. One set of "water only" grows to see how well each does through a full life cycle, and one set where you top dress or amend as needed. Then at the end compare the amount and timing of amendments. That could help show that some do better at a particular time or have other strong/weak traits

Definitely, couldn’t or wouldn’t cure without them, but just a heads up if you use the single or double zippered ones with dehumidifier cranking you will lose all of your terpenes, especially the black ounce bags with a window, I’d recommendation heat seal if you for sure don’t wanna lose any terps for your daily driver bag I’d use the clear “glassless” bags, they have 6 or 7 zippers and the buds last much longer

My honest opinion is that grove bags are for people who don't REALLY understand how to cure properly. I used grove bag samples during 3 different harvest of the same clone and did it slightly different each time and every time the jar locks away those terps much much better. Just my opinion from my own experiences ✌

I agree on point one. I use Grove Bags, but this current grow, I will attempt to do Jeremy's 60F/60%RH/16 days, but then I will still store in Groves. The problem is that I live in AZ, I'm about a month away from drying/curing, and I can't figure out a way to get my temps down to 60F. The RH is no problem with my humidifier. I can't set my A/C to 60...my wife would kill me, and I don't think even my brand new A/C rooftop unit will get our house down to 60 when it's 110 outside. I've thought of getting a portable small room A/C unit that would get it down to 62 I think, but those units are pretty pricey for my small grow. Any thoughts?
@Shepp6769
@Shepp6769 Жыл бұрын
@@gmolorin13 I think Jeremy has said get as close as you can. In think if you can get the RH to 60% then you would be fine with temps up to 68 degrees (imo). Might not go 16 days with that little temp increase, maybe 10-12 days (but start monitoring before that to not over dry). 🤙🏼☮️✊🤛🏻🔥

@@Shepp6769 I think by curing time, I'll be in June, and lucky to get the temp to 75! More like 77-78. I grow in a large 8'x2' closet with sliding doors. I only use about half that space for the grow area (2 plants) right now, but need to cool down the whole area, which is about 160cu.ft., I'm thinking of acquiring a portable a/c unit.

The absolute moisture on the moisture meter is not what’s important. You should make a note of the percentage it says when the moisture in the pot is visibly the level that you wanted to be at. Then in the future, you should target that percentage and even set alerts just below it I calibrate my meters and alarms differently for each pot, each crop. Sometimes I target 50% sometimes 10%, depending on the sensor placement and media, and those represent the same water content.

Grove bags without a doubt gave me the best cured flower I’ve had with the lowest effort, but the cost is prohibitive, the waste is unnecessary, and the benefit just isn’t substantial enough imo. Those buds were really great, but so are the ones in jars if I’ve done it correctly. Being able to not have to time it perfect is nice, but that’s only really necessary in the beginning anyway and dont have the experience to know when it’s perfectly dried and ready to go into jars. And relying on them while your still learning just prevents you from knowing when it’s perfect and forces you to continue to rely on them.

And as to Grove Bags, I just got some and they seem to work fine, the big plus to them is that I can now store a whole lot more in a lot less space. One thing about them though, they say to seal them shut with a heat sealer, but I didn't do that. I figure that since the bag itself is breathable, then the zip lock should be enough. And if you don't seal them, you can use them over and over again.

Perfect timing for the between seasons question! I have one more to add. What do you do with the leftover root-ball? I chopped my cover crop, added craft blend and worm castings and have watered my 10 gal pots so just waiting for new seedlings to grow up some more. How long should it take for the ball to break down? Do I need to add anything else? Thanks in advance!!

Question: I want to run earth boxes in my 4x4. This would be my first time doing any kind of SIP style grow, and I want to try because I’ve seen you crush it with them! How many would you recommend I use max in my space, and what kind of soil/amendments of yours (BaS) would you use to start them with if you were aiming to “set it and forget it” from seed to harvest? Keep that awesome and informative content of yours coming! Cheers and thanks for any feedback.

Jeremy, I'm about to start my first grow in a tent. I will be growing 5 auto's in a 4x4. I am new and will be learning as I go, but I wanted to ask what would be a good top 5 list of things to really pay attention to? I am using a living soil and have worm castings along with bud and bloom for the flower weeks. I wanted to use a tea as well during the flower weeks as well. I guess I just want to make sure it sounds like I'm going in the right direction. I will be using 5 gallon pots to grow in. Thanks for all your guidance and knowledge you produce for all of us to learn and go by.

Just wiped out thrips with mustard seed. Only crushed up a small hand full off seed, maybe a tablespoon of powered. Mixed it with some craft blend and sprinkled it on the mulch of the 6x3 bed. Replaced the sticky paper and not seeing any new bugs on the paper after a few days.

Proactive ipm works great as well. Rove beetles, hypoasis miles, and 3x nematodes.

Hi Jeremy, just wondering about the flashing pulse from the eccowitt moisture meter. Will that cause any light leaks?. And what would be the optimal soil moisture percentage range to keep plants happy. Loving the content. Happy holidays when they come

head to head is a great idea if only to show what some "soils" are missing and possibly what you could add to them to be more like build a soil... since there is just not enough build a soil product for everyone

You actually want to go lower on WC during stretch. The drought stress (generative stress) causes them to stack more flower sites.
