I had the divine privilege of holding and PLAYING one of Victor's personal basses this past summer… I don't really care for the tone, but it is the most comfortable bass I've eve r played. Sliding up and down the neck is a dream

While I was waiting on my Emperor 5 standard, I actually felt the pictures were a little disappointing in terms of visual appeal. When I got it, and understood the nuances of it, I was floored. A year and a half later, I'm still floored. It's one of those instruments that you don't completely "get" until you've played one.

Incredibly low action, perfect intonation, it plays like butter, and the craftsmanship is still top notch (even with the painted inlays); what more could one want? Pictures you see online do not do the bass justice. Yes it is a bolt-on, but some people prefer that. The bass is made for Victor's techniques. For example, little things like flattening the fretboard make it easier to perform the double thump. It is an incredibly versatile instrument. Don't hate on something you have never tried.

Oh, no doubt, Fodera makes some seriously outstanding products. It's just that many people on the forums and such seem to put Fodera as a brand above all else to the point of no consideration for anything else out there, like the legendary Fender Jazz or the Music Man Stingray. Sure, there are other great Fodera artists like Matt Garrison and Anthony Jackson. But everyone rambles over Victor Wooten and his bass. He's the only Fodera artist that's ever consistently heard of. Just my 2 cents, man

Maybe that's because this is a Victor Wooten Signature Yin Yang Standard. Fodera makes INCREDIBLE products and there are many MANY excellent Fodera artists, not just Victor. It all depends on your personal taste, but Fodera is the top of the line for me. I've never played a better bass.

i haven't played a yys, i wrote my statement based upon the description and experience with high-end basses. i truly believe the bass' price has a lot more to do with brand value than with materials or handcraft value

The paint is only on the Yin-Yang Standard models. The Victor Wooten ones are inlaid.

Better than the Fodera too, man. I always see people putting these on a pedestal just cause it's synonymous with Victor Wooten. Heck, the proof is in the pudding. How many times did the guy in the video say his name?

@claudi0barragan I own a custom boutique bass that's worth 3-4grand easy, and have played $10k+ basses and I can tell you now that the YYS is a totally different monster compared to everything.. the playability is just out of this world. Don't judge unless you've played one. I've had the same thought as yours until I played it. Really.

this is just the only standard one. there are like.. 3 standard models that they made just for people who want a crappy fodera (though.. that itself doesn't really make sense :p)

playability,is highly subjective, some would say playability on warwick's necks are astounding, but for me is terrible, some say a j-bass neck's nut width is comfortable, but for me it feels like too narrow for the hand, a lot of builders tries too hard to craft light basses and that many players choose their basses for its weight, but i really don't mind it at all, if this bass got you for its playability, and you are willing to pay that much for an otherwise lesser bass, well, then go for it

of course i did, will you pay 4+k for this bass? really? for playability alone? will you overlook the fact that for the same amount of money you can get a much better built bass? well my friend, that's the power of brand awareness and you will be ripped off.
