Excellent, detailed presentation. Two concerns: 1. The E string is no longer in contact with the tailpiece. Wouldn't this deaden the sound? 2. Wouldn't activating the lever (bringing the pitch down) affect the tuning of the other strings?

P.S. I bought one and neither concern has been borne out. The sound is not deadened, nor does flipping the switch change the tuning of the other strings. I tune in 5ths so the Xtender gets me down to B flat. My "C" string is actually a Spirocore Stark B string, re-tuned.

I have two of these basses in fretted and fretless. Ned Steinberger is an absolute genius. Every millimeter of these instruments has been designed with purpose and the sound is truly thunderous.

OK, this sounds good but what if you have a reverse headstock guitar? Does hipshot make something for reverse headstock guitars?

I have a 2012 Strictly 7 Solar and it's one of the best made guitars I own. It's incredible in terms of build quality, weight, feel, fretwork. Sadly, I believe the company went south some years later. If you can get your hands on one made around 2012 I could not recommend it enough (no, I'm not selling it!).

I have Hipshot extender keys on both of my 4-string basses, and on the B string of my Dingwall Lee Sklar Signature 5-string. I've never seen his Dingwall with the two detuners. Have to look for a photo of that.

Does the staggered height stay the same on a reverse Headstock ? I just bought an Ibanez with a reversed Headstock and intend to put locking tuners on it . I actually put locking tuners on All my Guitars since it makes string changes faster and easier then trying to get a perfect wynd on a traditional Tuner !!!

That’s a great drop D design! I wish Hipshot could design one like this one for Telecaster guitar bridges. I just installed the Hipshot B bender with Drop D & I love it a lot. I don’t want or need B benders on all my guitars. As it would be nice but too costly for the little I use it. As for Drop D I use that tuning a lot on the fly. I know of GT 1 & GT2 for my personal needs due to my cerebral palsy I prefer the lever on or behind the bridge rather on the headstock. BTW Great tutorial video!!! Thank you

Were the post heights stated in this video wrong, or have the available options changed since 2012? Hipshot website currently shows 19mm as the shortest.
