Adding sand to the paint alone was worth the price of my click. Genius. Never seen that before. That’s a great way to get a cement texture. This water feature is so cool!

What I loved MOST about your video was the very visible LIST there so that you know all the ingredients or supplies at once glance. That is so terrific! Thanks for this information. Presently I do not have a water feature but would love one of those , eventually.

This is beautiful. My only concern would be for the toxic chemicals in the waterproofing & paint. Birds, wild animals, and even a dog or cat might be vulnerable to harm if they decide to take a drink from this fountain. I'd rather use non-toxic materials to protect animals.
@kt94952 ай бұрын
A solution to this would be to use ceramic and either run your tubing through the bottom and seal with marine epoxy. It won’t leach once cured, or set inside another waterproof basin.

Really nice as a feature on my micro farm, I really want the birds and insects to also be able to come down and have a drink Building up a more natural environment on my micro farm really helps keep down pests and diseases. Happy gardening/farming Marty Ware (Australian Micro Farmer)

I'm thinking for birds a much more shallow water feature like a bird bath would be safer for them. You could put the shallow water feature on the ground or elevated like a standard bird bath.

You can use a plastic tub, and paint with a textured stone, stucco, or whatever paint. Then there's no hole in the bottom or painting the inside, or don't paint it at all.

If you want this look, that is actually a far better and much cheaper idea. I think it's a shame that such a beautiful tube like the one she used is being painted to look like almost any cheap one you can buy at a garden center. And it's expensive too, there is a lot of material going into that. No problem if you want to preserve the natural beauty of a tub. I'd love to have such a nice weathered one. Depends on someone's taste I guess. But her enthusiasm is contagious. Now I really want one.

I think there are probably newer products that are easier to install since this was made. I thinking of something like Flexseal that can just be sprayed on. Not sure if it would hold up as well over time.

Informative video. BTW, do you think the Flex Seal product, they advertise on TV, would be good enough to waterproof the bowl/pot instead of the method you demo? Thanks

Flex Seal is a worthless product! It does not work. There's even a disclaimer on the Box about using it in water. Even though the stupid commercials are nothing but water related issues!

Do you have to do anything special to avoid breeding mosquitos? Or, is having the fountain feature enough to keep the away? I take it you also have to use that liquid to prevent that mildew smell too?
@harveythepooka7 жыл бұрын
For mosquitoes you can either get some poisons to put in the water, which I am not sure how they will affect wild life, or you can get a few small gold fish. For the size of her pot, 1 or 2 at most and they will eat the larvae. I would assume the pot wouldn't get mildew if it was completely sealed. You could also use a plastic pot, or else use some pond lining instead of the painted membrane.
@J.Cameron.Stuart.Adams.6 жыл бұрын
As long as the water is moving they won't be a problem. They only drop their eggs in standing water. There shouldn't be any smell. The gardeners clean out fountains every spring to remove leaves and other debris.

Would this be appropriate to put either a couple of goldfish or maybe one beta fish in? Didn't know if the waterproofing paint is toxic to fish.
@BuildersFan8 жыл бұрын
Hi Denise, we'll check this with our paint team and will advise as soon as we get feedback.
@BuildersFan8 жыл бұрын
Hi Denise, our team has advised that both paint products are not toxic to fish, however they are not recommended. Durapond or Bitumen Tite (with the biddum membrane) would be more suitable.
