Yes, it is! At least it was, an old deleted pipe from before the property was subdivided.

Is it common to use hardwood in bathroom floors in New Zealand? Why not tiles? I'd be concerned about water damage, or stains from cleaning chemicals.

@@nzbuilder ah, that makes more sense. Is it common to use vinyl? I've only ever seen tiles in the U.S. and Germany. Btw, I love your channel and the beautiful houses you and your team build. Thank you for sharing the process. And I like your "floating black boxes" 😅 style and I wouldn't call them black. I love the splash of natural wood cladding on many of the houses. This was a young family with 2 kids, one just started primary school. At the time existing house prices were crazy and the land was good value.

Can somebody tell me why Australians and Americans like building houses with wooden frames instead of regular bricks/stones? I mean does anybody really like to have paper thin walls out of drywall? It’s unstable unappealing and doesn’t last very long. Just very superficial in total.

It’s cheaper is the main reason, ik what you mean tho having had homes with both I prefer the European way of huge stone thick sturdy walls

The simple answer is earthquakes. Wooden framed houses hold up better than stone/brick houses in earthquakes.
