It's friggen' amazing how Chris handles that 220 when he's clearing out undergrowth and saplings. Then jumps on that skid steer and spreads that gravel. His Uncle John is lucky to have taught him the business.

Love watching you work, it really is soothing. It's funny, I find myself asking, "How do you know...?" when I remind myself you have over 2 decades at this work, it's part & parcel of your profession, and I laugh because I got asked that all the time. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving day and thank you for sharing with us all.

My dad lived in Winston-Salem for a number of years growing up. After WWII, He went to med school and graduated from Bowman Grey school of Medicine. We moved away from Winston-Salem (up north) for 14 years. He decided to move back to NC and bought a 100 acre hobby farm in King, NC. Now tobacco was the crop of choice,but he felt that being a doctor, soy beans was a better choice. So he leased his fields out for that. He also got so black angus cattle and while there were many tales of my dad’s “experiences” mostly he ended up giving the local farmers free stud service every time the bull escaped. The other farmers would call after about a week to let him know the bull was in their field. My dad always laughed and would go and pick him up.😂

That was nice of your dad to offer free service like that, he must have had a nice bull. That reminds me of the time my brother and I bought four 500 lb heifers at the sale. Got them home put them in the feed lot for about a week to let them calm down, we thought. We let them out with the other cows, and away they went. We got three back in the pin. One took off for the hills in southern Ohio. About a week later we get a phone call from a farmer about two miles away. I hear that you are looking for a heifer, I think it in may pasture with my cows. We went to get it, and he offered to buy it. I was never so happy to make a sale. We thought it was gone for good. Farmers and their tales

Our driveway for our homestead here in our neck of the woods in Alaska is just under 11.2 miles...took my pops and 3 eldest brothers a bit over 4 years to build... in late1929 to early 1935! They didn't have the equipment we have today, and its allot more stable than back then!

@almaylin464
@almaylin464 Жыл бұрын
I would assume that there are a few reasons not the have the grader on this type of job 1st is the cost of bringing another machine to the job site. Even with your own transport it’s not cheap when you use a outside company it gets higher ( kinda ) 2nd is this is a construction driveway until the house is built with the number of and types of vehicles that will be traveling on the driveway it will most defiantly need to redone after the completion of construction. Last and likely least is leaving the ground slightly loosely packed allows the gravel to bed in and lock in place. Thats my thoughts but I admit I’m not a deep thinker
