Just build a similar shed. Based on the instructions they have you put up all the corners and then the bracing for the wall sections. When I build the next one I am going to put the bracing in as I build the corners.

Nice job, both of you 👍😀 Next I'd get some ridgid insulation on the walls leaving an air gap for air flow to ridge vent. Otherwise tape gaps and seams to keep temperature more moderate Solar lights and vent fans are nice additions Remember that the roof trusses can't carry much of a load, without beefing up. What is the snow load for it ? You might project a solar air warmer for flowing up behind the insulation using the air gap 🤔💭💣💥
@AveRage_Joe
@AveRage_Joe 11 ай бұрын
Thanks!! For the time being it will hold all the outdoor equipment so dont think Ill be adding any insulation. May add tape if it warrants it to help keep the inside dry. Yeah the roof trusses cant carry an extra amount of weight. Id have to check on the snow load. Its under all the trees so it shouldnt see to much snow but we will see.💥

If anyone is planning on putting up a shed check your local ordinances. A lot of locales won't allow structures close to property lines. My city for example has a 5' setback requirement from the property line and the side facing the road has a 30' setback. Some neighbors won't care, some will call and report you to code enforcement if you violate it.

I wouldn't fill the gap between the two doors with foam like you mention. I'd probably just go with some metal flashing material or even just any thin galvanized sheet metal you can get in a strip. Attach it to one of the doors on the edge and have it just span the gap over to the next door.

I like that you showed some of the pitfalls - and that they aren’t too terrible. I don’t mind DIY projects. I’d follow up with the shelving - and I intend to put in a small bench and chair - with an electric run to my outdoor breaker box with a receptacle inside. But I think it looks better than serviceable. Just a bit of time and patience.

I don't know the details of what you will do with this shed, but...a metal shed is perfect for a battery and inverter storage. This would make it easier to get a building permit (where required) and it would have a low impact on your home-owners insurance, by putting the lithium batteries in a metal out-building. It could also use some wooden shelves one foot down from the ceiling along the walls.

My thoughts exactly. Should have purchased 3/4 pressure treated plywood. The only drawback with pressure treated lumber is it is treated with copper oxides. This will cause the Steel screws to rust at the base when it comes in contact with pressure treated wood. A gasket to separate the contact of the 2 different materials.

Yeah mine is still up a doin great. I did over tighten a few roof screws (since it was easy to do) so I had a few drips inside. To fix that, I just added a tiny dollop of silicone over the roof screws about a month or so ago. I did all roof screws to be safe just incase I had others I stripped out. Im in Omaha and we have had HUGE storms the last month and all good inside. As for snow, the placement of mine is sorta in the tree cover so I probly only got around 6ish inchs of snow this past winter.

I have on order a 6' by 4' metal shed. Money is tight so I was wondering how and what I might use to keep the base off the wet ground. (Live in rainy climate), I was thinking 9 cider blocks and One OSB 19/32" board, again, tight budget for this widow. What are your or your reader's thoughts on these items for the base?

Quick question for ya on this build, I’m building the same shed. The metal braces that hold the side panels on at the top when building the walls, did yours come with home predrilled? Mine didn’t so I’m thinking maybe my piece is flawed. Also, around the 8min mark where you are talking about how the roof panels screw into the grooves on those braces, since they don’t give you self tapping screws, did you have to predrill holes or did yours come with holes predrilled?
@AveRage_Joe
@AveRage_Joe 4 ай бұрын
Everything was predrilled and I didnt have to do anything other then install the screws. I did have to flip around a brace or 2 cause I wasnt paying attention but yeah, everything had a hole or a slot.

The plastic film is a nightmare to remove. It requires fingernails to dig into the edges of the film to remove can't do this with the gloves on.. So this invites all types of cuts to your fingers The film is thin and weaker than its adhesion to the painted panels. The plastic washers need inside flashing or tabs to help keep them on the screws. I note that there is no mention of the plastic film in the instructions probably because it is a known nightmare to the manufacturer.

Hey, Mrs Joe! Nice to see L again. "Maths"? Is she from England? Have only head of "maths" in a Dr Who episode. Too cute. A few well placed costco shelves would add vertical storage too. Great build. Great Teamwork. Only one missing was whiskers. Thanks for sharing.

Just make sure you measure the metal base frame and get wood to that size lol

Do you know the width of the door frame? Would it allow for a 54 inch wide lawn mower deck?
@AveRage_Joe
@AveRage_Joe 3 ай бұрын
My 42 goes in with ease and room on the sides. Door opening is 59-1/2" so yours should fit but might have to tilt up the side chut depending on width.👍

I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for posting. I have a question about the dimensions. What are the dimensions of your base? I have an existing concrete pad that is exactly 120” wide and am worried that the extra 0.8” will hang over and create a crack for whatever to get inside.

Thanks! Id have to run out there and measure if for ya when I get back. I want to say it was just over 120" if I remember right but will check.

@@AveRage_Joe Thank you. I'm thinking a 3/8 overhang on each side won't be that big of a problem. Especially if the bottom frame has enough width to accommodate.

@WalterKeener-sj6mg Ok so just measured. Its 121 lip edge to lip edge. That lip edge could probly be bent down to the edge of your slab.
