Those are some extremely nice upgrades to that block. Two detail items I’d like to know more about. How much lobe lift does that block allow before the oil pressure band comes out of the block? I know there are some lifters with work arounds for this. Just cost associated like in most cases. The other item is cylinder distortion under torque plate honing conditions . Those blind head bolt holes are a plus no doubt and I know that those head bolt holes were CNC machined and much more accurately located than the factory based engines are. When decking these style blocks the head bolt threads being flush with the deck makes it necessary to champher the bolt holes. For this reason it would be very nice if those head bolt holes had a counter bore depth before the threads began. I’m sure it could be done and still accommodate a common length ARP stud. Just think that it would improve overall quality and even help the manufacturing process. Couldn’t add more than a minute to the cycle times. Over all those are major nice upgrades. A 4 1/4” bore ?

Why would you not use a 4032 aluminum forged pistons? Wouldn't that be more suitable for a performance engine? I guess I've seen to many explode in circle track racing and that's very similar to drag and drive out power tour type of situations and heat cycles or loads. Just my opinion nice build either way guys.

Do you guys also offer a 4.125" bore SBC or just the 4.000" ? In terms of the added material that you mentioned going into the block, is that more or less a substitute to allow all perpendicular main fasteners rather than outside splayed ? How about Billet Main Caps as an upgrade ? Very nice looking block. The cam thrust plate is also a nice addition.

That is a (SMOKING DEAL) on your "POWER ADDER" shortblock with that block! If i had the coin i would throw it down right now as i planned to build a all forged AFR headed version to replace my GM ZZ430 clone. I do wish you had a normal 350CI.. It would also be cool as crap if you guys did "RETRO" 302CI, 327CI, and 396CI Small blocks as well.... What is the Max HP rating that block of yours can handle? I wanna add 15psi and shoot for 750hp+ /650RWHP... 90% street engine... But i want it to last. And what oil pump do you guys use? Melling "Sharktooth"?!? Those are the one i had planned to get.

my 30 over 350 makes more power than that. how can you have a 1/4" more stroke and not even make as much power? Obviously, you did something different (perhaps wrong?). Guess I'll have to watch, just to see what's up. Or it may be a case of apples vs oranges - different goals - different results. Compression ratio - I'm running forged pistons at about 10.25 to 1. Valvetrain - True roller here - get those steep cam profiles that really breathe. Heads - I'm running Brodix Track-1's - best breathing 23 degree head I could find - beats airflow, edelbrock, etc. Induction is another difference. I'm running an Offenhauser Individual Runner Intake with twin 390 double pumpers with non-progressive linkage. It's basically an eight one-barrel carbs setup. Nice block, BTW. All I have is a Summit 4 bolt with a Moroso two-piece rear seal adapter, and a two-piece rear seal forged Chevy steel crank. Given the differences between the two builds, everything makes sense. I wonder how they compare on cost. From your website, your stuff seems pretty reasonably priced. Mine is actually a re-build of a 30-year-old hot rod motor. I was able to re-use the crank and cam and had to replace everything else - even things like the distributor and water pump and the twin aluminum big block radiators and 4 cooling fans that keep it streetable.

No soaking the roller lifters in heavy oil before install? No builders grease on push rods or rocker rollers? Let's hope that you run the oil pump and rotate the engine by hand before you fire it up on the Dyno. I suspect lifter and cam failures - am I right or are you doing the things that we didn't see in the video?

I have done one 383 using 6 inch rods and it now is in my 1988 1 ton chev truck so I have started a new engine that is a 385 stroker and again with 6 inch rods for my 1991 1/2 ton chev truck and my gripe is trying to find a roller cam rated at not over starting 1000 RPM or less for a work truck that tows trailers and boats 98% of roller cams seem to be rated for racing application for mid to High range RPM. Look at any 383 video or built for sale 383 SB and they have been done for a race streetcar & race application and no one does a video on a 383 for work trucks that tow trailers. I think I found a comp cam for my truck application but it took 2 months of search the internet and Jegs or Summit racing looking for the roller cam that fit my needs for a cam
