We are Building a 9 Hole PITCH & PUTT Around our DIY Putting Green this week using left over turf from the putting green build. Our dream golf homestead is coming together well and we now can work on our chipping and putting everyday on our backyard golf practice facility.

Love the build. I’m in the middle of planing one myself. I have room to take shots from 100yd+ and curious if you had any advice for pitching and chipping. I talked to a a couple turf places that recommended some specific tuff and amount of infill. Wanted to get your insight if possible.

If you are looking to hold longer shots, you will want a higher quality turf that has a heavier face weight, and longer fibers of an inch and a quarter or longer. This will require a lot more infill, it's a lot more labor intensive, and will cost quite a bit more. You will also want to use a shock absorbent pad underneath the turf for better results. I was building on a tight budget due to the house build, but even had I gone with the high quality turf, I still wouldn't be able to hold shots from 100 yards as my green is way to small for that (28' x 15'). I'm not sure what size you will need to hold from 100 yards, but likely needs to be at least 50-60 feet in length I would think. Like I said though, at that point, the cost starts to heavily go up.
