Thanks for this amazing video, really enjoyed the first episode and I'm eager to now finishing the second. So here's my question: is there any hope that they will remove the random farm buildings spawning in farm land? Or asked differently, do they ask content creators for feedback like that at allot is it more a marketing thing (which would be understandable as well). Hope not scratching any NDA with this. Thx & Best from Germany

Excellent video and also want to say how superb your cities are, I've recently discovered the channel and have subscribed because I love how realistic your city builds are. Which brings me to my question nicely, for someone new to Cities, do you think its better now to wait for Cities 2 as some things are easier to do in CS2, or do you think that CS1 is still , currently, the better product because of the wealth of mods and assets available. I imagine many of those will be available for CS2 in time but is CS2 currently very limited in comparison with CS1?

Unfortunately, I'm still not convinced. The more I see of CS2, the more I feel it's still going to need some good modding before it will look good. Right now, everything looks so generic and similar that everyone's cities look identical and boring. It's forcing me to hold off on expecting to buy it at release.

@@jpennin1 I've watched about 6 different 2 episode series from YT's, not one has looked the same, it has similar aspects as in he main buildings such as town hall etc but the designs and ideas are practically and individual thought process... This is still basically in early access and the devs have allowed these youtubers to play, upload this content so they can gather more ideas, hence they didnt have contour lines- now they do. they are listening and reading comments. why don't you buy it at the start and try it on your own behalf, not viewing others content and if you dont like it- refund it and wait for the modders to do stuff....

I am getting worried about this game. So close to release and the traffic STILL looks sparse. I am beginning to think the game engine cannot handle more. I don’t like that every city I see no matter how big has so few cars. The streets look dead. If this is how it’s going to be, I’m going to stick to CS1 as big buildings with so few cars milling about just doesn’t look realistic at all.

The atrocious look of those distant mountains - more like dirt piles - is depressing. They took a game that they only needed to add things to, and hyped a sequel that looks worse, is missing tools, and has little to no mod support at launch. Typical illustration of where game development is today.

I really dislike the passenger train station building in this game, it's got way too much space wasted with car parks (as do many of the assets in CS2, like isn't that the point of having car parks being separate buildings, that the assets don't have them), looks so out of place as a city centre station.

@ayaneagano6059

It’s probably because the style of development is closer to European zoning style (non-Euclidean) rather than the American style (single-use zoning [Euclidean zoning], excessive parking, overly massive streets, highway-oriented development rather than rails, etc.)-but the actual buildings do look pretty North American, albeit a bit Canadian

As an architect with city planning education I can tell you severing a city from a river with a rail that is hard to cross and unattractive is the most destructive thing you can do. A train track doesn't benefit from a river view. Housing leisure and commercial do! Not to , mention land value. trains are large noisy and unattractive, you don't need them center downtown.The right move is to place a few key stations on the outskirts and have other transits like bus, subway or tram leading it. Old cities that had this do to poor design and old era industrial focus are always less attractive and successful from cities that don't. Don't copy old cities do to nostalgia without understanding whats right and what's wrong about them.The rail could have been your "natural" border near the mountains instead of the fake river you carved there..

I absolutely hate that when you zone on top of low density, the buildings disappear. In SimCity 4, houses would be kept and if there was demand, higher density would "buy" the houses and then be built. The other way around was also true. If I zoned hight density first, some tall buildings could pop up, but houses could be built as well if demand was low. That's a major flaw of this franchise since 2015.

The population mechanic appears to be even more whack in CS2 than in CS1. After all that buildout and on the verge of unlocking high-density housing (after the city already had a proper skyline, mind you) the population hadn’t even cracked 10k. To my sights by that point it had the appearance of a 50-70k city here in the western US. I hope that realistic population is one of the first mods released for CS2.

Great episode again 👍 its again really nice that you have a feeling for density and height in your city and dont swing the high rise brush and make some concrete hell. The street and rail building looks really smooth, easy and good the last epsiode already selled me to preorder. Cant wait to see what the further (specialized) industry zones will looke like and i´m really exited for the game.

How the scale looks with that huge buildings in the street level? Does it feel like the street is full of life? Beyond that, i love the mix of small streets, normal streets and the avenues you achieve. The game looks amazing!

Hi Joaquin! I feel the scale is much improved - cars, pedestrians, buildings - even hedges and fences which could be cartoonish big in Cities Skylines 1. There also seems to be an improvement to how Mountains are scaled - they look enormous in this map! ☺

couple of those high rises looked nice. I especially liked the one that was white with maroon sides. Would you consider re-doing the roads in the harbor area/along the river so that they get the quay walls?

I might at some point! It will require a full revamp but it might be worth it 😊

@Infrastructurist if you feel up for it, I thinkbit will be worth it, for the aesthetics of it. But if you do it, you can do it off camera since you only get 30 min per episode.

If the city grows, can you create a semi purpose built street circuit in downtown or on the island in the river(like belle isle in Detroit or Hutchison island in Savannah)? I dont have city skylines, but I’ve always wanted to see someone do this in the game😄
