This was very helpful. Thank you! I’ve been a MUA for almost 7 years but still feel stuck unfortunately. It truly resonated with me when you said I’m attracting the wrong people. That I’m basically just there to fill a spot. It was such a big shock to hear because I never thought of it that way. I have a very different style than most of the MUAs in my town. Everyone else seems to be doing the same simple/ clean/natural look. And nothing wrong with that but I love doing more of the glamorous/innovative/out of the box looks. I like doing looks that challenges me artistically but I fall into this mind set that I have to do what everyone else is doing cause otherwise I won’t get any clients. But that really wasn’t the case tbh. It didn’t really help get clients in. Now that I heard you say it, it makes sense to prioritize setting myself apart from everyone else, have an edge basically, to have your own brand and be known for it. I already have my own style. I just have to own it.
