Fr. Martin's lecture is one based on false equivalences and makes no distinctions necessary for a talk based on Catholic values. Everyone sits there accepting what he's stating when he's just advocating to let everything slide and not make any judgments. False compassion is not the Gospel much less challenging anybody to live according to it.

Arnoldo Miranda You totally misunderstand his talk. He never said he accepts their lifestyle. He wants is to accept them as real people in the Catholic Church and to listen to them and have dialogue. More healing comes from simply listening and helping them in the chirch.

Sexual behavior not ok outside of marriage and marriage is for husband and wife. Man and woman and that’s the truth, no matter how harsh anybody believes that is we as Catholics must know this and stop misleading poor sinners. We’re all sinners and all need this truth and His mercy but our priests must start teaching this.

Jump forward to October 2019 and Fr. Martin openly questions whether or not Sacred Scripture has evolved to accept homosexual acts. Fr. Martin tweeted: "Interesting: “Where the Bible mentions [same-sex sexual] behavior at all, it clearly condemns it. I freely grant that. The issue is precisely whether the biblical judgment is correct. The Bible sanctioned slavery as well and nowhere attacked it as unjust. . . . Are we prepared to argue today that slavery is biblically justified?”"

This talk is bad comedy and terribly deceptive. "Names are important." Yet Fr. Jim Martin doesn't go through the trouble of using the proper acronym that the community asks to be called. Hypocrite. If respect runs both ways, then why does Fr. Martin encourage homosexuals to not follow the ground rules of the Church? If gay unions are not recognized by the Church, and fornication is a sin, then why is Fr. Martin asking that those who continually sin without repentance be allowed to go without rebuke? Fathering a child out of wedlock is a sin. A man can go to reconciliation, make a perfect act of contrition, and he is forgiven. The gay partner carrying on a gay relationship is living in a perpetual state of sin. Until this pair makes reconciliation with the intention of stopping the sins in question and STOPS performing the sin for at least a little bit, then the issues are not really the same, are they Fr. Jim Martin? Fr. Martin Knows this. Fr. Martin understands the process of living licitly within the community of the Church. Fr. Martin also has an agenda that includes changing Church policy toward the gay community, not conforming the gay community to the Church. He outlines this in the video. As a result, Fr. Martin owes his loyalty to the community of unrepentant sinners instead of upholding his vows. I do not understand how he can be in communion with Rome. He is a walking scandal machine.

Father Martin is not being brave he has the full force of the law and courts behind him. He would have been brave fifty years ago saying these things. Now he is simply kicking in an open door. If anything this is a good career path for him. There are many powerful gay Bishops and Cardinals that support him and will promote him on a promising career path.
